Sooo, I don't like to do laundry — Brooklynian

Sooo, I don't like to do laundry

Subject: Sooo, I don't like to do laundry

Obviously, since I have had a basket/cart and products ready to go do some serious laundry for a few days and it hasn't left the foyer. So, after searching the board, have decided to go with laundry.bz and am hoping for a good (clean and fresh smelling) outcome.

Big question, hand wash undies or let them do it?
As some of the stuff is delicate, I'm afraid of it coming back totally shrunken or ripped. Also, my friend throws his stuff in garbage bags (in no particular order) for drop-off service, but I'm thinking that proper laundry bags are better for pick-up. Any thoughts or laundry service advice?

  • I'd use real laundry bags. for undies, stockings, etc, I'd use a lingerie bag. I'd handwash bras.
  • Thanks.
Yeah, I was leaning away from the whole garbage bag thing.
I have woolite, so I may just hand wash my bras and undies, leaving the clothes, towels, sheets, etc. to the laundry service.
  • In my experience, anything sent to the laundry is washed warm/hot and dried on high, no matter what you may try to tell them. I do separate out the whites.
  • agreed - i wouldn't send anything that you wouldn't mind coming back a bit smaller than before. they definitely dry the hell out of the clothes. what i do is keep a regular laundry bag to send to the laundromat - in that i put towels, sheets, gym clothes, underwear, socks, etc. then i separate any clothes that are more delicate or i'm worried about them shrinking into a separate bag and hit the laundromat myself every other weekend for those 1-2 loads. since most of the stuff is delicate, i dry it all on a rack at home so it really doesn't take too much time out of my day - maybe 30 minutes for the wash cycle plus 15 to hang everything up to dry? only saying that because the whole reason i don't do the rest of my laundry is that i hate to waste half of a weekend day in the laundromat waiting for machines, waiting for the dryers, folding the clothes, and i found that the price differencial is nominal in terms of how much those few hours are worth to me.
  • Doing laundry is the best. I want to host a party at the local laundromat

    burn them

then rub the ashes into the lintels of your enemies

or place them into a small mesh bag and wash with your regular laundry

Honestly, the only realistic business I've ever considered opening would be a laundromat/bar. I think it could work in this 'hood. It would be great if I could find an empty space next to an already existing laundromat and work out some sort of business deal with them.

For a newcastle or two during the rinse cycle?
Hell yeah I would do laundry!

This was almost funny and useful for a friday night (as I do have dirty underwear and enemies, go figure), alas they don't have lintels. Perhaps I should just smite them with my mighty bottle of woolite and call on Yahweh to make them miss every train by 10 seconds?
