New restaurant on 5th, next to Commonwealth: Piramides

what's it called?

I just came back from a walk on 5th ave with my grandson.. this restaurant is open.. but no one in there this afternoon. This is the place where Jacks was ? Kind of one of those doomed locations historically but convenient so will give it the old Park Slope try.

I'm not suprised they don't have a lot of customers. That place has been under construction for a long time and it never occured to anyone that they might want to let people know what kind of business would be there, let alone tell them it's (another) mexican restaurant. Nobody knew what was going to be there, what kind of food, how expensive it was, etc.

So, when they opened, no one really knew or cared. Also, you constantly see their employees taking smoke breaks on the corner...do they go straight from that to handling the food?

Their menu is small, the food is overpriced, and there is a much better restaurant on block down on 4th that is cheaper.

From what I can tell, whoever decided to put that restaurant there didn't bother to scout the area. This is not the place for an expensive mexican joint, especially when there are at least two other ones at least one block away.

What are the other "expensive" Mexican places nearby?

Sorry, I wasn't clear before. There are other restaurants nearby that are not expensive or as expensive. I just wasn't clear in my sentence.

walked by yesterday and it was empty.

not a fan of the plywood exterior either. especially given the prices.

places like this need to think of what would make someone choose this over the other nicer, high end mexican places in the neighborhood to attract customers.

clearly it's not the decor so the food had better be awesome. i can't imagine going down there when i've got la taqueria and chiles and chocolates right nearby. but i do travel down that way to eat if it's something special.

i'm just wondering what that might be with this place. guess i'll have to try it sometime...
