WTF? 3-4 week old kitten! — Brooklynian

WTF? 3-4 week old kitten!

My super, Edwin, got this little guy yesterday, someone found him on the street and Edwin felt sorry for him. I took one look at him last night and he's sleeping in a box right now. He looks to be younger than Mumpus, maybe 3-4 weeks but he's too skinny and he was covered in flea eggs. He's pretty freaked out, especially after I bathed him. I couldn't get all the fleas off him though, I was afraid he would go into shock after his bath. I can feel his ribs, he's so bony and a bit weak. He had diarrhea last night but none this morning.

My point is that I can't take care of both the kittens and the new one needs alot more attention. I've emailed 2 people who might be able to find someone to take him. But I figured I would post here also. The kittens know where I live now!

  • OMG! Another one??

And it's gray, my favorite kitty color! No mas, no mas!!

I must shut computer down now.

(best wishes sweetie, I know someone will take the baby in, how could they resist!)
  • Yes, another one! The word is out, if they start showing up on my doorstep I may have to move. :)

Mama, did you get my email?
  • OMG! So cute!

    Must.Stop.Looking.
  • Rosie, the kitten rescuer, has named him Mr. Grey. I, being a Stephen King fan, love it! Mr. Grey is worse off than Mumps, he's skinny, scared, and has diarrhea. I'm going to call my vet tomorrow and see what they say. I think he must have come from a feral momma, he freaks out when I try to get him to pee or poop. And he will only sleep in his box, he can't relax with me like Mumps does. Poor little guy. I'm going apple picking with my parents on Sunday, I have no idea what the heck I'm going to do with the babies that day. Mumps doesn't stay still anymore unless he's sleeping. My mom will be disappointed if I can't go. :(
  • How is Mr.Grey's flea situation working out?
  • Mr. Grey is going to the vet today, he threw up twice and still has diarrhea. It's possible it could be from the milk my super gave him the first night and the canned food he ate yesterday. I'd rather not take any chances though, he's just too skinny and weak. He has finally figured out that I am the food source and comes to me when I go to his box. But he still does NOT like me wiping his tushy and will ffft at me. I've been picking stray fleas off him but I'm sure there are more. He's too weak for another bath so when I go to the vet I'll get a flea comb. Wish Mr. Grey luck!
  • Poor boo boo. He definitely found the right place to land. You might as well bring a bunch of boxes home from work and set them up....tie a big fish to the front of your building to make it easier for those kitties to find you :-)
  • Mr. Grey went to the vet today, he has protozoa in his poop which is causing the diarrhea. He got a little bit of Advantage for the fleas, some fluids to rehydrate him, some Flagyl, and he has to eat more canned kitten food. He's sleeping in his box right now after pooping in it again when we got home. But, one of the vet techs wants to adopt him! Lucky little guy.

For some mysterious reason I had a $100 credit on my account, the receptionist said someone probably put it on there. Anyone have an idea who the mysterious benefactor might be? Because I would like to kiss them! Or at the very least give them a bottle of wine to thank them.

The Mumps is spending the night with his mommy Rebekah from the bookstore. I miss him something awful, I love that kitty in a different way from my kitties. And Mr. Grey is adorable but Mumps has a special place in my heart. He was my first baby!

i'll be willing to take him off your hands write back we can talk
  • Uggh! Flagyl! That stuff is nasty!! My cat wouldn't take that stuff at all.
  • Another great job, Caseopele! So glad that boy found a good home. And Da Mump will be close enough for you to watch him grow up and visit him.
  • Well, I'm holding off on the Flagyl for a little bit longer. Mr. Grey wasn't too trusting after I gave him the first dose and I wanted to fatten him up. I'm going to start him on it in a few days. He doesn't have diarrhea anymore, uses the litterbox(!), and has been playing with the Mumps. He's trusting me a lot more now and even curled up on my lap with Mumps tonight.

ahly2007, thanks for the offer but I'm giving the vet tech first dibs. If she's good enough for my vet then she's good enough for me!
