were these all guys named Ruben who thought i wanted a date?
sorry for the confusion. i'll take a date with a ruben too. you bring the thousand island dressing!
  • I don't have any of their numbers handy but I'd try calling Tom's, the Usual, and Teddy's Restaurant. Not sure if the quality will be great, but give it a shot.
  • Mumm.. I could use a ruben too. With fries and lots of the dipping juice.

I know Bonnies does a 'beef on wreck' that was ok, sorta rubenesque. No delivery unfortunately.
  • El Gran Castillo may be able to whip up something for you - Im not sure they would call it a Ruben but if you tell them what you want on it they can probably whip it up for you.
  • This reminds me of a Penthouse forum letter where a guy who picked up a takeout reuben pulled his car over the side of the road and watched a naked woman thru a window and used the hot reuben to masturbate with.

Okay that is the LAST thing I'd want to do with a ruben. EW!
  • i'm a vegetarian so no expert here (i'm going back to the original thread here), but i'd guess the nearest spots for a real reuben would be either junior's on flatbush or david's brisket on nostrand, if it's open. (it was shut down this summer.)

i doubt either one delivers here.

Sure, buddy. I'm on to you. Pervert.
  • Tom's has great Reubens. I doubt if Castillo has any pastrami, but I had breakfast there this morning, and they make killer home fries.

He was probably whipping up his own topping
  • Oh I wish Tom's was open at night. I have to say--the dining/delivery options here are so sad.

That pizza place everyone seems to love doesn't do it for me. It's too doughy. I'm tired of chinese. Sometimes I just want a burger -- or buffalo wings -- or a RUBEN!

I even have to go into manhattan for groceries because i get grossed out around here. Small stores that smell bad. Ew. Someone told me to go to Atlantic--but I don't know where to go when I get there.

I guy can really starve to death here!
  • Couldn't find any cheese to go with that whine, eh?
  • Cheese and WHINE we got plenty of here.
  • Subject: reuben

    who has this wonderous sandwich?
  • What about Purity on Underhill & Dean? They have a huge menu.

  • i think it's hysterical that purity has ruben and fries as an appetiser!

I'll start with that, have a stuffed potato before moving on to the 2 prok chops. hmm.... maybe have something from the trimline menu...? fruit surprise???
  • Dojoji.....If I may make a suggestion or two. Cannot help on the pizza front, but as for your cravings for buffalo wings...have you tried WingWagon on Flatbush Ave? I think they deliver. Also.....do you drive to Manhattan for groceries if so why not go to Fairways or a really nice supermarket I go to is the Super Foodtown on Fulton and Brooklyn Aves They have fresh bakery, huge cheese section, muffins, deli, fresh seafood. It is really nice. Also, another of my fave....Garden of Eden on Montague St ...pricey but worth it.I must say...Juniors sandwiches are very good but pricey as well but worth it.
  • I don't even bother with food around here. I just cook. Why can't I get a decent burger? Soda's cheese fries are top notch, but I've given them 5 chances to make my burger right, and they always char it. Why even ask me how it should be done??? Beast's burgers are $15(with a mimosa). The Usual is good for brunch, but for some reason I'm skeptical about their burgers; maybe I'll try theirs.

In the mean time, for the $$$, best burgers I've had are the CTK special... about 3/4 pounds of ground beef in two buns, with cheese, and bbq sauce, flame broiled in my apt oven... it works out to about $1.75/burger, tastes damn good and comes out right every time. [/rant]

I've had a couple of burgers at Teddy's - they're good (not great) and big. Also, ToD makes some good burgers.
  • Guess that is what is needed. A type of Jackson Hole Wyoming or Fiveguys burger joint.
