Dogs weren't meant to be accessorized or dressed up in outfits. Dogs were meant to be dogs. Period.

  • I dont know - that's a little harsh for an event that happens only once a year. What about those small dogs who wear sweaters in the winter to keep them warm? Do you find that unacceptable too?

If the day ever comes when my dog brings me a pair of bauble balls, a santa outfit or the silly ensemble you'll see on the dog at the following link (http://www.clintonhillblog.com/) in the same manner she brings me her tennis ball as an indication she wants to go outside then I will change my mind.

Until that happens I will encourage all other responsible dog owners to boycott the 9th Annual Great Pupkin Dog Costume Contest. Even if it only happens once every 10 years.
  • I don't know kitties in clothes are pretty damn cute*

I could understand dog owners wanting to do the same.

  • I think it really depends on the animal. Some animals don't mind being dressed up and enjoy the attention. Other animals hate it.

Just don't dressed up an animal that doesn't like to be dressed up.

I've put a baby bonnet on Penny, but that's only in the winter time to protect his previously frostbitten ears. He looks damn cute!

The pic of the dog with the stocking over its head is outright animal abuse.
  • This one:

...is PhotoShopped; I remember seeing the original recently on CuteOverload.com.
  • One time I had to take Penny to the vet right after I had a bout of mono so there was no way I was going to carry a 15 lb. cat. Fortunately, my vet lived two blocks away, and his back door was on my quiet street. So I frequently got Penny to the vet by sticking a leash on him and walking to the back door (which he quite enjoyed by the way!)

Problem was, it was 5 below zero and Penny's ears needed to be protected. And I couldn't find a baby bonnet ANYWHERE!! Out of desperation, I stuck a legwarmer on his head.

This worked fine for about a block. But then the legwarmer slipped over his face. Next thing I know, all my neighbors are staring at me while I walked the headless kitty through the snow.
  • should of taken a pic :p.
  • I wasn't going to go back and get a camera. I was running late and it was 5 below zero!
