How the cat wakes you up in the morning

  • My cat does that to me. He used to try to wake me up by poking me in the eye with his paw. I would just roll over because no way was I going to reward that behavior!

What's worse is that he'll wake me up in the middle of the night because he wants to get under the covers with me. And if I lift the covers, he'll just stand there for ages trying to figure out what to do. So I've taken to just shoving him under the covers. He's happy and I get a bit more shuteye.
  • hahahaha. I love it. That is pretty much my morning routine (although our cats haven't yet discovered the effectiveness of baseball bats).

I love the depiction of the paw-kneading-action.
  • Ours alternates between foot-attack and face lick. Her breath makes the second one particularly effective.
  • As I pointed out to everyone I know... my cat decided to bite my face one morning. Not real hard, just enough to leave 2 little red mark slashes. He hasn't bothered me in the morning since... I made it known that I was NOT HAPPY!! He is the "Marley Monster"!
  • Euww!!! Kitty breath!!

And I can't really do much about it because he's too old and sick to be sedated for a dental clean.
  • My other kitty has taken to jumping on my belly. Since I have lost a lot of weight in the past couple of months (if you see a girl walking around looking like she's being eaten by her clothes, that's me!), I have significantly less belly. THAT HURTS!!!!

She's also taking to pouncing on Penny while he's under the covers with me. I would imagine he doesn't find this too pleasant either, since because of age and illness, he's not as big as he used to be.
  • Armchair introduced me to this video and I posted it on youtube trying to find out who the creator was. Finally, someone posted it under the comments. It's called Cat Man Do by Simon Tofield of Tandem Films.

My chubby girl Pele has the density of a black hole and can focus it all into one paw. She likes to make muffins on my tummy while I'm sleeping. I've woken up several times finding it a bit hard to breathe but since she shows affection so rarely, I try not to complain.
  • Now Tuly has taken to lying on my tummy (which is an improvement over standing on my bladder) and licking my nose. Ick.
  • I love that video, I watched it three times and sent it to the bf (he has two kitties). My Aubrey persists in the "I'm going to knock stuff onto the floor until you get up" routine even though I ignore him. Wanda used to poke me in the mouth, but now she just yells at me. Lucinda doesn't try to wake up me up, but by way of a morning greeting she pretends to bite my nose - she just very carefully and delicately encapsulates my nose with her teeth. It's cute.
  • Ugh. Penny decided to leave from under the covers and in the process, got his leg stuck in the rat's nest on the back of my head (I must have tossed and turned a lot last night). YOUCH!!! He practically dragged me out of the bed trying to free his leg.

Maybe if I brush my hair BEFORE bed this won't happen again. If it does, I'm gonna sleep with a shower cap on because that was PAINFUL!!
  • one of my little ones nuzzles me in the face with his nose while purring and tickling me with his whiskers. If that doesn't work I get claws in the scalp.

    Very nice.

    but he's SO cute I can't get mad :D
  • My mom's cat is a bad boy with seasonal allergies. In the morning he sneezes on her repeatedly because he knows it annoying :?
  • Euww!!! Cat snot!!
  • My cats both like to crawl up right next to my face and simutaneously meow until I get fed up with shhing them and finally just get up and feed them. Spoiled much! :)
  • One of my cats stands on his hind legs on the bed and stretches his front paws as far up the wall as he can reach. He then rakes his claws down the wall, making a sound like nails on a chalkboard. He does this repeatedly until I get up and feed him.
