Halloween in Prospect Heights

So do I need to stay off the streets on Halloween and barricade myself inside? What's it like in Prospect heights on the holiday and Mischeif Night?

  • Lock your doors! Keep your head down. It is just like Detroit! We're gonna burn tonight!
  • hi all--I'm on Underhill at St. Mark's. Does anyone know if I can expect a lot of trick or treaters? I'm fully stocked on candy and wondering just how early I need to leave work in order to be sitting on my stoop, treats in hand, when the kids start showing up. Can't wait!
  • I've never had a problem on halloween. no trick or treaters in my building, but I'm on washington so probably their parents are being vigilant. houses between avenues will probably get some decent traffic. I'd try to be out when school's letting out. but I'm not certain - no experience here. when I was a kid we had a specific time frame to trick or treat, so this system is a bit confusing.

there've been reports of eggings on this board, but generally further east, in crown heights, and usually much later at night. I'd like to avoid getting egged so whoever is responsible - just make a sandwich, ok?
  • Oh I just bought some of the freshest eggs from some very happy chickens who are free range, grass fed and antibiotic free. It would be such a shame to hurl their sacrifice at passers-by. But it DOES sound like fun! And isn't it good for your hair and complexion...? So you're really doing people a favor.
  • Thanks, alafairnadia!

if you bust out english muffins and a decent cheese to go with fried eggs from that batch, I'll save you the trouble of hurling them at passersby and, instead, eat a sandwich ...
  • How 'bout I fry them up and toss them like frizbees to open-mouthed participants?

sounds pretty nasty. I'll pass. but. english muffins - I'm yours.
  • LOCK YOU DOORS.

probably just don't wear anything that will stain if eggs or water are thrown at you.... no silk, no cashmere, i don't know!
  • Hope you all survived fright night !!!!!!!!!
  • Yes! No trouble at all. But no one in my whole building was giving out maryjanes--my favorite!

Please bring your leftover maryjanes to the happy hour tonight.
