Subject: I'm a shut-in, what can i get delivered?

I've injured my back so I'm spending a second day laying in bed in my apartment. In short, it hurts to move, big time. One of my friends told me I should check out one of those "urban fetch" services, but surprisingly (NOT) they don't deliver to PH.

Does anyone know of a service that delivers to our hood? Is there a drug store around here that delivers? Can I get some DVDs brought over? Will someone pick up my laundry and do it? I'm just really shy about imposing on my friends. Oh, and can I do it all by credit card 'cause I'm low on cash.

    Joe's Laundry Service is AWSOME. Pick-up, drop-off. Don't know about credit though. 646.220.2220

    Fresh Direct delivers to PH. Don't know if you are able to cook or just want snacks. But they recently lowered their minimun order for delivery to $35.

    If you have pets, Acme Pet Supply on Vanderbuilt delivers as well (I've paid by CC over the phone and all was fine).

    I feel your pain, same thing happened to me a while back. Thank heavens I had my BF to help me. Make sure you place a hot compress on your back. Hot water bottle or one of those heating pads. Then take lots of Ibuprophen.

    thriftway on washington delivers. not sure if they take credit cards for delivery but I'd imagine so.

    I believe bubbleworks takes credit cards, but they kinda suck.

    Joe's takes credit cards. as does Neergaard Pharmacy - they deliver, and are open 24 hours: 718-768-0709.

    The Associated (bodega) on St.J's and Underhills will deliver too! They take credit cards.

    Try netflix for dvds/They will mail you the movies. Turnaround is quick.

    Hope you feel better soon cupcake. I know how bad those back things can get. Last winter I was laid up for TEN WEEKS. I literally couldn't walk more than a few steps at a time because of a herniated disk. Happily, most people feel better much, much sooner than it took me.

    Thanks for all of your advice. I ended up sending some laundry off to Joe's since I couldn't lift it to bring it anywhere in the hood for wash n' fold. Everyone at Joe's is very friendly and professional and they DO accept credit cards, however they need to work on their delivery schedule. The first night I was told someone would come to pick-up my clothes between 7:00 - 9:00pm and the driver didn't arrive until 11:00pm. This is not so great if you're trying to rest up. I had the same problem the next night when my clothes returned at 11:30pm - and they still have my dry cleaning.
