Thriftway Pharmacy - Read your expiration dates!!!
Needed to voice my complaints about Thriftway Pharmacy on Washington Avenue. When they first opened up they were the best. Your prescriptions were ready on time and if you requested delivery they didn't take too long. Unfortunately, my happiness didn't last too long. Their service is getting crappier by the day. If you fax in your prescriptions, no matter how many hours in advance, when you go to pick up they are never ready. If they don't have the medicine, they don't bother calling and letting you know, so that you can get it somewhere else. And don't get me started on the customer service. If you ask them a question, you get the rolling of the eyes and the teeth sucking. And to top it off, yesterday's experience was the icing on the cake. I faxed in my prescription at around 12noon. After work, 5:30pm, I stop by the pharmacy to pick it up, guess what....it wasn't ready. Luckily for me I had already prepared myself mentally for that. I finally get my medicine after 45 minutes of waiting. When I get home and am ready to give my son (who is 1 year old) the medicine, I noticed the expiration date.....May 2007! This medicine expired 6 months ago! I don't know what possessed me to read the expiration date, since I usually don't, but it's a good think I did. Of course, I called Thriftway and spoke to the pharmacist, his response: "We check our inventory every couple of months." Of course they don't have the medicine in stock. They promised to call later on today with an update on when they can get the medicine. I think I'm going to start using Kings Pharmacy on Flatbush Avenue and let them deliver my medicines.

Kings also stinks.

I think Kings is okay.....we use them all the time and have never had the problem described by OP, and very rarely any other kind of glitch....once, in almost 20 years of using them as our pharmacy, did they neglect to call me to let me know that there was a major problem with the 'scrip.....I find them very nice, actually....fairly personable behind hte pharmacy counter in a very impersonal age.

Ugh don't get me started on Thirftway! Their service quality has definitely gone in the shitter the past 6 months or so. I'm just about at the end of my rope with them.

May I suggest Richard at Ludwigs Pharmacy, he's very nice.

Subject: Thriftway on Washington the pitts
I have a flex spending plan - Wageworks- that enables me to buy OTC medications tax free.
I need only to supply the receipt.
The receipt from thriftway doesn't include descriptions of items bought.
So I went to see the manger a couple of times to hand-write out the receipt for $72 worth of goods I bought in his store.
The Manager there obviously could not give a sh*t who his customers are because I was snubbed twice.
I will never shop there again. -
what is it with drugstores and old pills?!!? because i had doubts about my local pharmacies stock refresh policy (perhaps because of having read this thread) i dropped of my prescription at the duane reades closest to my office on Maiden Lane in the city (I know, not a PH place)
For some reason, I peeled off the name label to reveal the mfr expiration date to reveal an expiration date of June 2007.
COME ON!!
I marched back there and told them it was unacceptable, they need to throw that away blah blah blah and they called 3 stores to get a bottle messengered over that expires in Jan 2009. I wouldn't be surprised if the previous bottles had been old and crusty too.
UNacceptable! I will be double checking the dates on all medications from now on. -

I would recommend calling their main office which is at 440 9th ave NYC. 212-273 5700 and let them know your going to advise everyone in your company about the hazards of having perscriptions filled by them.
That will shake these assholes up. -
