cat found- good home needed!

edited November -1 in Brooklyn Pets
help! the building on 242 flatbush ave. (between 6th and bergen) has recently been vacated and the previous owners left a number of cats living on the roof. they are scared and hungry.

i have trapped and taken it one of the cats, but there is currently another one on the roof. i am willing to trap it and take it to the home of someone loving who wants to care for this cat. she seems sweet and is a good groomer!

relatedly, does anyone have any good ideas for where to post this information to possible get a good foster or adoptive cat parent? I'd like this cat to be placed in a home this weekend.

thanks,
andrea

Check the Pets section here, look at the sticky at the top on that board. Post there.

Please take them both in temporarily and save them from freezing to death.
I can't believe they were abandoned up there!!

(thanks to the gals here who have given me these helpful links!)
  • Subject: update?

    hi ... what happened??

    thanks!

    great resources, mamacita.
  • originally there were two cats up on the roof. we have rescued one of them and she is now our cat. she is pregnant, so you'll probably see a post about kittens in a couple of weeks.

as for the other cat, he was able to get off the roof and i believe he is living with the feral cats in the bergen st. lot. according to the shelters i have spoken to, this a good place for him to be as there is food and shelter.

    thanks for all your help!
  • Hi. thanks for the update.

    And thanks for helping out!

Re: the other cat, a cat that was used to living indoors with humans is going to have a hard time adapting to being 'one' with so-called "stray" or "feral" (i hate both those words...) cats. Can you go by there and check on him? I think he really should go to a home. And is he her 'mate?"

I know it's a lot to take on but could you take them both in?

    Thanks. best of luck...
  • hi, if you're a member of any social networks such as friendster, myspace or facebook, you should post a listing there.

thats how i found a home for the cat i just took in, because it seems alot of people would rather adopt animals through individuals, without the hassle of going to an adoption agency. you never know if a friend of a friend might be looking to take in an animal!

with good pictures, i got alot of interest on craigslist too (a good sob story also helps...)
