Been mentioned on previous posts -
There's also a place on 5th ave in North Slope. I think it's called Frame Works or something.

I recently had something framed by San Art on 7th Ave right off Flatbush. Good, old school framing shop, independently run, not what you would find in the mall.
He does nice work but not very friendly.
Maybe he was having a bad week. :? -
The San Art guy was obnoxious both times I had something framed at his store as well. He's not cheap, either. But he did a very good job and has a beautiful selection of materials.

Subject: San Art
I used to do ALOT of business at San Art.....not cheap, but he does a great job and i don't think custom framing is ever inexpensive. Since I was there pretty often, I made it a point to be super-friendly....and he was friendly back, after I greeted him warmly each time....I always had the impression that he was just overwhelmed, working pretty much on his own and jammed into that over-crowded space. On the same topic, I've lived in this neighborhood nearly 20 years and am a frequent customer of the stationary store on Flatbush at 7th Avenue (Park Heights, I think it's called) and evern single time I see the owner he looks right through me as if he's never seen me before in his life. Which rankles me slightly.
However, shopping in both stores supports independent local businesses....and hell, are the workers at mass merchandisers friendlier? No. -

It's called Brooklyn Frameworks. I know George, the owner, and he's a stand up guy. I don't really know his price range, but I am sure it's not cheap. -
if youre into the whole crafts thing. you could use crown molding or any type of molding to frame around your art work

Go for Park Slope framing...great people, inexpensive, and they do incredible restoration work if needed:

For some reason I had an image in my mind of the "Mona Lisa" and she is yelling "Yo, Son, I was framed. I didn't do nothing!"

I've had a few things framed at NuNu Gallery on Union near the Tea Lounge. They're not cheap, but they have nice quality stuff and they do a great job. Plus, after getting my first item framed there, I got a certificate good for $50 off the next item I had framed, which they honored even though I waited until after it had expired. I'd definitely do business with them again.

i'll check 'em out. thanks.
