staying in the heights — Brooklynian

staying in the heights

hey everyone,

i posted this question on the prospect heights group on flickr, and it was recommended i expand my question to this forum. i've been living on washington avenue for the past year and i'm so happy with it. vanderbilt has my favorite restaurants, bars, and coffee shops...and the brooklyn museum and botanic garden are great. my walk to the subway is graced with beautiful brownstones and friendly people.

my girlfriend has moved in with me and it's time for us to get a bigger place. i would hate to leave this wonderful area.

i'd like to reach out to you. my resource for apartment hunting is primarily craig's list; which isn't a bad resource, but it has its limits. i assume you are all residents of this area, so you might know a realtor or agency or some other resource that has helped you find a home in the neighborhood.

my friend lulu recommended a lady named marjorie at Washington Realty. this kind of info is very helpful to me or anyone else looking to live in the area.

if you can help, feel free to send me a message, or if you want to share your knowledge with the rest of the group post a reply to this topic.

thanks, guys!

My girlfriend and I went through Space Realty. They are located on Bergen right near Flatbush and 6th Ave. JoAnne was the nicest and most helpful agent I have ever worked with. Mia (the owner) and Jason were also really friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Once we signed and moved in, we had a leak in our apt. When the super refused to do any work and our landlords wouldnt answer the phone (shabbas) JoAnne came to the rescue and got the mess sorted out. She even brought a bucket to help with the leak!
Space Realty is the way to go in my book!
  • though i haven't used them myself, i want to put in a plug for Washington Realty (718-230-0340)
my neighbor, stacey is an agent there and she is active in the community and very knowledgable about the area.
