A holiday for the rest of us!
December 20th, 2007
At our dear, dingy and divey MOONEY'S PUB
7:00pm
There will be Airing of Grievances  , Drinking of Guinness, Feats of Strength  and hopefully a Mod (or a certain Mod's llama!) gets pinned :P
Mooney's
353 Flatbush Ave
After last year, I think it would be best if the feats of strength did not involve melee. However, if anyone can eat a tablespoon of cinnamon at once with no water, that qualifies as a feat of strength, and will earn that person a free beer. -
The DH Festivus pole is safe and sound in storage and will be available for viewing, touching, tonguing etc. on the 20th (see last years pics). Happy Festivus!
Does Mooney's know about this? I hate showing up in a place with my massive pole and getting stared at. -
nooo! this sounds like such a great time. i have an xmas party to go to in gravesend with the lady that night

Come after. People will be there late.
-
whoa, i never realized tracy letts was in the festivus episode! crazy.
-
I'd never seen that ep before. Seinfeld is brilliant.
This is OT, but I just realized I've been registered for a year now. Is there an anniversary thread somewhere?
-
A festivus for the rest of us!!!
The drunk dancing committee will be in full force.
Feats of strength for the ladies will include the ability to fit into and use the woman's bathroom stall with the door closed!
Anyone want to take bets on who does a pole dance first? I say WhyFi :P -

Really? I just take it as a compliment. 8)
(and now, miss goodbody, back to the regularly scheduled program) -
Damn, that's the same night as my office Christmas party! Might show up later on in the evening if I don't get too crocked at the open bar like I do every year.

i will try my best! i do have work the next day :?
i cant decide which will be better. the airing of grievances is always a favorite of mine but feats of strength always have so much promise for ridiculousness and joyful mayhem! -

I've never tried this feat. I imagine it to be not undo-able. Could I wash it down with beer? -

You can have beer after you swallow it all, but you can't use the beer to help you swallow it.

Subject: Repeal Day!
Let us not forget another important holiday we must pay tribute to...
A belated Dec. 5th Repeal Day!
Yes my droogs, I'm talking about a very dark time in American history. A time of mistruths, mayhem and the destruction of the basic social fiber that binds us all!! But there was light at the end of this dry cheerless tunnel.
On December 5th, 1933, the 21st Amendment was ratified repealing Prohibition and restoring our basic human right to PARTY!
So let us also pay tribute to our constitutional rights and celebrate our freedom this Festivus!
-
Chris's office party is that night but we should be able to show up after that. Yay!
-
will there really be dancing?! Hooray!
-
ms.bastet wrote: will there really be dancing?! Hooray!
I doubt very much that Mooney's has a permit for that.

-

-
I'm in, I'll bring nato. If anyone who isn't Japanese can eat that, it is an instant beer!

Ooooo, I remember the Iron Chef episode about that stuff -- that WOULD be a feat of strength! -
Can someone drop by and give Mooney's a heads up?
I'll try, but I'm not sure if I'll have a chance.
(edit to add: I have my work party that afternoon too, so I'll be at Festivus late and tipsy!
)
