Homeless women — Brooklynian

Homeless women

Do we have any conspicuous homeless women in our area? In cleaning out my wife's closet, we found this brand new pair of fake Ugg boots from years ago that were never worn. I could give them to the Salvation Army I suppose but I thought maybe I could gift them more directly. I've seen one woman go through my garbage once or twice, but don't see her enough to lay them on her. Anyone have any homeless "friends" who may benefit from such an item?

  • That's really thoughtful -- Uggs may be kinda hideous, but I've heard they're really warm.

I can't think of any in the neighborhood, but there's a really sweet little old lady named Irma who is often at the exit by the church at Atlantic/Pacific.
  • You can also drop off clothing at your local fire house - Im not sure if its just coats of all types of clothing. You might want to ask them. Good luck!
  • I work for an organization that serves formerly incarcerated women. PM me if you want to donate to us.
  • Around the time we had our first cold day this year, there was an article in the NY Times about some guy at Phoenix House (Prospect btn Vanderbilt and Carlton) that makes sleeping bags for homeless people that he meets near by. Maybe he can introduce you to someone to give the Uggs to? By the way, thank you, I'm glad you are my neighbor.

    I'll second that.
