    was wondering about them. made the trek down there during lunch a couple times in the past month and it was closed both times. well, glad theyre not gone forever. 
    the nearby sandwich place (around the corner from bergen bagel and across the street from the police station) is a poor substitute for city sub.

    I am open to ideas from readers re: remaining reasons to visit Park Slope if one lives in Prospect Heights or Crown Heights.

    ...I can't think of any on my own.

    The PH and CH burger and beer places are now good enough that I don't see a need to cross Flatbush.

    Cross Flatbush to conduct an ethnographic study of the Park Slope phenomenon (tongue in cheek).

    I don't know if the Park counts as the Slope, but -yes- that is one good reason to cross Flatbush.

    I go to Park Slope a lot because several of my friends live there.  We usually end up south of 9th at bars and restaurants or on 5th. I go all the time on my own too. I hit up the Jackrabbit store, Union Market, the boutique clothing/shoe/jewelry stores, mani pedis places, etc. I live close to Washington but I very rarely walk towards Franklin.

    Anyways, lol, back on point. I'm sad to see Citysub closed, they have some amazing subs. But maybe the new location will be bigger and they can expand there business and food offerings. Can you imagine if they had actual seating and served beer??

    I'm not bashing the Slope, I just not longer "need it" in ways I once did.     Please note that I'm sure Park Slope will be fine without me; Most neighborhoods are.

    Whenever a shop closes suddenly, I am afraid it will not re-open.    The block of Bergen that City Sub was located on has become very upscale, and I am not sure City Sub can pay that kind of rent.

    ...If City Sub returns, I am afraid it will be upscale.  City Sub was one of the few "non pizza" places I could eat with cops and plumbers.   I tend to blend in with cops and plumbers well.

    LIved directly across the street from City Sub, until moving to Park Place/Franklin  7 years ago. Reminded me of how good Blimpies 'was' in the 1970s.  My life went into decline over here without City Sub. 
    They were/are owned, still? by the Taro sushi people.  Remember the young Japanese guy and gal that ran the counter?  
    The Slope was good to me, but it is no longer useful.  Just as when I left Williamsburgh after 25+ years in Southside.  Don't really care about arguing hood vs hood just give me services and a way in and out.  When I moved to Williamsburgh in '84 there were no ATMs and eating was Bamonte's. Mugs,  or the Diner that - was a diner!  Now there was a place - mostly UPS guys having lunch and the 5 buck crack whores under the bridge.

    Before City Sub re-opens try Mama Louisa's on New York ave. You may need never return to PS. Just don't try their delivery service.
