Emergency DEP work at Washington Avenue and Sterling Place
NYC DEP is repairing a leaking pipe and valve in the vicinity of Washington Avenue and Sterling Place.
Homes in a 5 block radius in every direction might notice discolored cold water. If you notice your water is brown or yellow, you are advised to run the water for a short time until the water turns clear. If it does not turn clear after a few minutes, you are advised to call 311.
Work on this pipe is intended to go on through the night.
Some hydrants are open to help flush out the dirt.

Amazing, thanks for posting this. Ours was tinted a little and we were curious.

Same. You think there's lead in there?
-
We got brown water all the way over at President and Utica. Seems fine now.

If there's dirt in the water, there's probably lead...

You are talking nonsense!. Only a test would tell you that. Lead is not brown.yesbrooklyn said:If there's dirt in the water, there's probably lead...
