754 Nostrand (near Sterling) is being brought back — Brooklynian

754 Nostrand (near Sterling) is being brought back

First floor space looks almost finished, and includes exposed brick and high end lighting.

Worker that I spoke with did not know what the first floor was going to become. Work is also evident on top two floors, but is not as far along. Facade still covered in sheet metal. image

Comments

  • At some point, a fire seems to have destroyed the apartments on the top two floors.

It does not mention a restaurant, so I am assuming we will get some kind of retail on the street level

  • It should be very interesting to see what lies underneath the sheet metal.
  • I expect it to be brick, like the buildings to the right.

However, because brick and mortar separate in high heat, I suspect much of it is held up merely by tradition and the sheet metal.

Soon to be Paws and the City, a pet grooming and supply store.

They previously had a location in Crown Heights but it closed.

  • Yes, they were right around the corner on St. Johns, directly across from the laundromat and Glorias. Glad to see that they are still hanging on. The neighborhood now appears to have a large enough dog population to support such a store.
  • We have arrived. oh brother what decadence! Will they sell fashionable poop bags for the idiots teenagers who are too cool to pick up!
But, Seriously glad to have another building occupied!
  • I know the contractor doing the buildout. Based on other work of his I've seen, it should be pretty sweet inside.
  • I went in last week just to check it out. They have a limited dog and cat food selection up front, and a big window in the back looking into the grooming area so you can watch as your pet gets his/her shape up. The focus of the business seems to be on grooming, but they also offer boarding, dog walking, and pet sitting services. And they deliver food for free in CH. Hopefully they will get enough business to make a go of it. The new spot is certainly in a much higher trafficked area and it looks like they've made a significant investment in the building so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them.
