Dining in Midwood — Brooklynian

Dining in Midwood

My boyfriend lives in Midwood, and I am seeking eateries that are not typical fast food joints, or kosher establishments. He lives a few blocks from DiFara's, (fine, but who needs the lines?) and some OK strictly kosher retaurants on Ave J.
I see nothing interesting in the immediate area. We have been to the Farm on Adderly, liked it a lot. Seeking the same vibe.
Any suggestions?

  • Taci's Beyti, on Coney Island Avenue near Avenue P, is the best Turkish cuisine I've ever had outside of my Turkish friend's kitchen. There's also a great Turkish pastry place on the same block. Further north, there's this great place called Famous Pita that serves a neato combination of Ashkenazi and Middle Eastern stuff, and makes amazing pita bread (think it's near Ditmas Avenue), and the fabulous Pakistani restaurant Madina, on Beverley and CIA.
  • My favorite place in the whole nabe is just a few doors down from The Farm and it's called Picket Fence. I love this place. The food is great and it's really friendly. I eat here at least once a week.
