Where between Wedding Dinner - Advice for UK Couple
We are spending a week in NY with 4 friends in March, and we're getting married on 16th March at Borough Hall. We want to get to the office about 1.30 pm and need to wait (for however long) for the ceremony (can't make appointments). We're having dinner at the River Cafe at 6pm. There will be 6 of us -we're late 20's early 30's and this is our third visit to New York.
We want to make sure that we don't drink too much before dinner, but if we don't get out of the office by 3.30-4pm, can you recommend any good cafes/bars in the area?
We don't want anything flashy, just somewhere friendly where we can relax and chat. Thanks for your advice.

I'd head down to the dinner area so you don't have too far to travel between drinks and dinner. There's a great place on Main St. called Bubby's that is very comfortable and a decent beer/martini list. They have a black and white photo booth in the back

If you want more of a pub atmosphere there's Water Street Bar right around the corner. They have a pool table in the back 8) -
Subject: Five Front
Five Front is also a good choice. While it's a restaurant they do have a nice bar and it's just up the street from River Cafe. It doens't get crowded until the later dinner crowd. -
I second the Five Front idea. It's a great bar and if you're feeling a bit peckish, you could get some delicious appetizers.

Why am I at a loss for where this is? -

I would also recommend the Henry Street Ale House.

But since you'll be at Borough Hall, you'll also be very close to the
Brazen Head, the Waterfront Ale House and Last Exit. All great choices.
Congratulations, and have a great time in NY. -
Eamonn's 174 Montegue St, less than 5 minutes from Borough Hall.
bonus: it's the day before Paddy's & everyone will be in a good mood there

Good tip, but unfortunately, this question was from a year ago.
