  • Good picks! Joy has an excellent tandoori mixed grill.
  • Your forget

    park - Prospect Park
  • Best Museum.
  • also best library.
  • Have you tried Hunan Delight on 6th and Union? (I know- also Park Slope). I'll have to give Mr. Wonton a try, but most Park Slopers I know swear by Hunan Delight.
  • I have to disagree about the sushi pick. I find Geido on Flatbush to be exponentially better than Sushi Tatsu. But that is just my opinion.....
  • I was also surprised that 11238 picked Tatsu over Geido, but you know what? Tatsu is "good enough," and a bit less hectic, and therefore easier to get in when you have a big party.
  • Have you tried Hunan Delight on 6th and Union? (I know- also Park Slope).
Maybe I should set up a Park Slope message board. Unless there's a good one out there already, in which case I'll just link to it.
  • I dont eat sushi but I always see the one on Dean (between 5th and Flatbush) to have a nice crowd in there. Not sure the name though.
  • If there is one thing that is clear from this thread it is that there is no good Chinese food in PH.
  • Pretty much true. Master Wok is tolerable, if you count Flatbush as PH.

Troo nough. I used to order from Vegetarian Palate but it makes me gag now.
  • DH-

North side of Flatbush is PH, no?

I haven't tried Tatsu, but I thought Geido was better than average.
  • Subject: Sushi wars

One key difference: Sushi Tatsu delivers. Geido doesn't.
  • I picked Tatsu over Geido ONLY because Tatsu has a MUCH better selection of cut and hand rolls.
  • Bagels - Bergen Bagels on Bergen and Flatbush
  • I hate to bring up (gasp!) Park Slope again, but Bagel Hole on 7th ave and (I think) 12th st is great. My family has been making the trip from near Brooklyn College to get bagels there for years.
  • And another vote for Bagel Hole. Best bagel period
  • I will not argue whether Bagel Hole has the best bagels. I will indeed concede that it manufactures the best bagels in the world. I think that the point of this thread, however, is to let people know the best of the P. Heights. Say, for instance, if you do not have a car or are looking for the best of a particular item within a 4-5 block radius. I could argue that the best pizza in NYC is at La Villa on 5th Avenue, but I don't think that would help anyone who is looking for a quick slice in the hood. In which case, I would head for Antonio's.
  • Fair enough. You don't need a car to get to bagel hole- (I don't have one). It's only about a ten minute walk from GAP. I will concede that it's too far for a quick bagel fix within the nabe.
  • re best bagels: again, slightly out of PH, but La Bagel Delight on 7th and President has FANTASTIC bagels - and closer to some of PH than Bergen Bagels.
  • Subject: Sushi Tatsu --bad

My husband and I got food poisoning from eating at Sushi Tatsu about 3 months ago and therefore we avoid it now. While Geido is okay, I actually prefer Sushi Gen on Washington Avenue. Good rolls and appetizers.
  • With most of the West Indian food joints closed on Washington, I replenish my roots craving for jerk and curry chicken at Carl's Place (Underhill b/w Eastern Pkwy & St. John's). Their $5 lunch specials will satisfy any local superhero's hunger.
  • Best Latin lunch counter: a tie between El Gran Castillo de Jagua (on Flatbush) and Los Viejos Amigos (on Vanderbilt). EGCDJ has better pernil though.
  • The best sushi is Taro Sushi on Dean st. between fifth ave. and Flatbush across the street from Triangle Sports. The sushi is always fresh and I recommend you get the "Omakase" which is chef's choice.
  • I agree with you Carnivoire - and the smell they have in the morning starts my belly rumbling :)
  • They do good morning breakfast sandwiches too. And the cafe con leche sometimes makes me wonder why people wait on line at Prospect Perk.
  • Sorry, forgot to login again. That's me above.
  • how about Beast as best new restaurant.
  • I can back that vote for Beast as best new restaurant. I think I've eaten there 3 out of the last 7 days. Perhaps best new bar as well? $3 Rheingolds!
