Veterinarian?

Miss Catastrophe isnt adjusting well to her new digs. Or else its a silent protest. Or the cat food. But either way, I think I need to find her a new doctor. Any recommendations for good kitty vets in the hood? (and yes, her name really is Catastrophe. and it fits.)

I would highly recommend Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital on Vanderbilt. I take my two kittens there and have been treated wonderfully. By the way I do have an interest there since my bro-in-law works there

I know someone else once recommended a place on Atlantic (bet. Bond and Nevins) called I think Hope Veterinarian Clinic if you want to compare. Good luck and hope your furface baby feels better

I bring my pups to Animal Kind on 7th Ave between 10th and 11th street in Park Slope. I love it there and highly recommend it. The only problem is that it is far from PH and probably more expensive (since its in PS).

I take the pup to Hope Vet on Atlantic near Smith St. They are very reasonable, and the doctors and staff are great.

Kitty, Murphy and Penny go to Prospect Park Animal Clinic on Prospect Park West around 5th street, and see Dr. Silverman, although we've seen the other vets there with great results. Not too expensive. Been going there for 5 years. Highly recommended.

Must also note that they have a great selection of cats and kittens up for adoption. Can't pass by that place without checking them out.

Hope is also the only veterinary clinic I've ever heard of that has an animal hospice -- if your pet is dying but not in terrible pain, they keep it comfortable as long as possible and you're able to visit. To my understanding, there's a rooftop garden for people to spend time with their sick pets.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm right about all of this, as I take my critters to the 5th Avenue Cat Clinic over in Park Slope. They're quite nice and take good care of my girls, so I recommend them as well. But if I were looking for a new vet, I'd definitely check Hope out.

I've only been there once, but I'd recommend it, and plan to go there next time my furball needs a vet visit.

Subject: oh, the feeding..

did you try slowly phasing out the old food, you know.. slowly adding new food to the old until eventually after a (week or more) there is just the new kind?

usually this works and does not upset the cat's stomach. some cats can be so sensitive; others, not so much!

its actually medicated food from her old doctor. shes been on it for a while. we just got a new case, so i am not sure if it is that something is wrong with the new cans (tho they expire in 2 years) or if kitty is just adjusting or if something else is wrong. shes old and has had a slew of medical issues over the past few years. so yeah, thats why i am thinking we might need to try a visit.

Subject: hope vet

I think Hope Vet is very competent, friendly and great people there. That being said, if something major, other than routine, comes up with your animal, I would get a second opinion. I had a mixed experience there. I don't want to diss them in any way but I would in retrospect get second opinions along the way.
