Go Bay Ridge! — Brooklynian

Go Bay Ridge!

I live in Park Slope and I think Bay Ridge is really nice. Lots of people are moving from PS to Bay Ridge. The only issue for me would be the commute. Take away that issue and I think it's one of the best areas in Brooklyn to live - especially if you have kids.

  • Subject: it has good points...

I have to say that I think there are better # of good restaurants in Bay Ridge, especially for your money, than in Park Slope. I think there is a good community. There are other issues, some of it is very busy(the avenues), the commute - yes, etc. Less baby activity, more widespread ages overall and less money for things than in PS. It's sort of its own world (PS is more linked and more dependent on Manhattan). I like the idea of being near the water. I've enjoyed reading the thread of posts from people about PS and Bay Ridge. That said, I'm not sure about moving there. !
  • My friend moved to Bay ridge from Ps a year ago. Loved it at first due to the reasons you brought out. But now he hates it. Says he has nothing in common with his neighbors, the amenites are poor(meaning sparse) unless you live close to them. Commute is a pain and finds the area very conservative(in an uptight way). It's so conservative that many Muslems are moving there because they approve of the values of their neighbors. basically, he misses being in PS.
  • Sounds like he *would* be more comfortable among snottier, hyper-critical people.
