Ebbets Field has a bad reputation, mostly due to the poor upkeep by the owner.

If you want more info, vis a vis crime, go to this thread: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40126

Errol was kind enough to post a map that was published in New York magazine that features a neighborhood breakdown of crime stats.

Don't know if you made it into Brooklyn yet but as the other posters said, the only way to know about a specific area is to walk around there to get a genuine feel. I know where Ebbet's Field is and have passed it on numerous occassions but have never been in the complex. I have read, as the previous poster stated, that there are issues there due to the management of the complex. Prospect Lefferts Garden seems to be a good neighborhood too me. Basically quiet, but that is just with me passing through. Anyway, welcome to Brooklyn if you have moved here already. I am sure that you will enjoy yourself and find a neighborhood that is comfortable.
