as long as they serve food, too ...

Because that's what makes a titty bar legit.

Years ago I heard that somewhere in Florida, there's a titty bar/donut shop.
That's rad and THAT'S what this neighborhood needs.

I would love a bookshop with a really great magazine section, a radio shack, a shoe store with the kind of great buyers that Red Lipstick, Corduroy Kid, and Pieces have, an art supply store, and some kind of kids food/play place, so the stroller moms ( and dads) wouldn't have to end up in bars.

Ooooh! A doughnut shop like Voodoo Doughnut in Portland, Oregon! I'd gain 10 pounds, but it would be so worth it! They even perform weddings. Vandy would totally benefit from a place like this! :)

How about a bar that doesn't play it's music full blast?! I went to two bars on Vandy this weekend (Weather Up and Barrette) and both were unbearable because of the music. I have no problem with having tunes in the background, but one of the great things about a bar is chatting with your friends -- not screaming!

Its the weekend!! That is what people want is loud music to dance to, if you want to have a nice conversation go to any of these bars on a weekday, but on the weekend no matter where you go, from Balthazar to Weathered up its all going to be noisy...

Really? You dance at these bars? I don't think I've ever seen anyone dance at a bar on Vanderbilt. And why can't I go hang with friends and talk on the weekend?

I see no reason to play music really loud in a bar unless there's dancing involved. If everyone's just standing around talking and drinking, then why not turn it down a little?

I'm guessing the bartenders do it on purpose so they don't have to listen to the conversations of their customers. :)

ugh, totally. we tried to check out 95 south for dinner the other night, but it was painfully loud, and on a wednesday night, at that. too bad -- everything else about it seemed nice. i'll give loudness a bye if it's for live music, but that's about it.
