    No we're getting somewhere!

I;ve been meaning to try out both places.

Re: Beer Table, it looks like the place only holds about 15 people so I've been hesitant to head over there at say 11pm-midnight on a weekend, thinking it will be full up. Any beer table regulars know the skinny?

Sidecar is cool and I had a truly delicious blue cheese burger there last week. My friend really liked his steak frites as well. They don't have an extensive menu, but everything I have eaten has been tasty.

I got to Rhythm and Booze all the time. I go to watch the Mets. I've always feel welcome and have some very interesting conversations. I love it. Hopefully the OP wont go there. The music also rocks. BEt you didn't know that!

Yes, I think the conversations being sought here are those about what novels one should be seen reading on the train, real estate gossip, where to buy those retarded 'Brooklyn' spandex ten-speed bicycle Tour de France outfits, etc. Not going to get much of that at R&B.

I refuse to drink at rhythm & booze because it's a stupid name.

Sounds like the name of a cheesy charter boat you'd find out on Lake Havasu.

Yes, we understand that drinking establishments with non-ironic or pretentious names have difficulty appealing to your kind's sensibilities - fortunately however as I already noted earlier in the thread, R&B will soon be known as "Leiderhosen" and thus all issues should be resolved, making it OK for you to drink there.

If "Leiderhosen" is not to your liking, perhaps you may suggest some alternatives?

How about "Acorn"? "Dollop"? "The Nob/Mash/Knacker/Pud/Wank/any other random British term Shop"?

rhythm and booze is an ironic name. or at least a bad attempt at cleverness.

a better name would be "Booze"

or keep the name and get some guys to play the pedal steel.

farrell's is a good name for a bar.
    or McFitzPatrick's

    bar 4,

shenanigans is barely acceptable as a name.

oh and please, tell me more about me and my kind based on a handful of postings on this board.

Or conversations about some "quaint" "authentic" hole in the wall restaurant they "discovered" or the newest microbrew gorilla-coffee cheese dip.

Ok, and I will even put it in a manner that should make me the most popular guy in "Sidecar" (in the unlikely instance I ever actually step foot inside):

Oh ye of the clever speak, you see, you are not nearly as unique as you believeth yourself to be. There are many others like you, flowing like some suburban force majeure - and you all come unto the Terrace of Windsor and other such lands, a merry group of bon vivants, bringing true joie de vivre to the "nabe" which of course existeth not before you, in search of that je ne sais quoi, that special place where you may encounter those exactly like you and engage in such tête-à-tête as to warm thy weary soul, whilst stealthily steering clear of the quaint little locals lost in blissful igorance, wasting their days away at such gauche establishments as "Rhythm and Booze" (snicker).

Oh yes, I knoweth of that which ye speak, dear friend. And thus, I giveth unto you the best advice I know how. Judge me not, for I speaketh the truth.

I suppose they could have kept the name MacBears but I think they wanted to lose the reputation associated with the name. They are opening a new bar in Marine Park and it may be called Appleshack. The suggested name was R.P. MacMurphy's but they felt it would get mixed up with all of the other Mc names in the area.

I hear Dram Shop has good food as well as triple rum punch which is now being adopted at R&B. Loki is pretty cool and has an interesting juke box.

Forget the name, it has a nice selection of cold beer as well as clean taps. The bartenders are all friendly and there is a good selection of liquor as well.

"Your kind?" - The kind who is appealed to by your allusions to the most obvious Commonwealth signposts? Brilliant.
