DH Festivus party -- 12/15 at Soda
emily
Okay, so when do we want to do this? I'm suggesting a couple of Wednesdays, since we often get together than. I, at least, will already be out of town by 12/21, most likely.
Plus, what will these festivities involve? We always seem to air grievances, so should we add feats of strength? A pole?

carnivoreI definitely can't do 12/14, but 12/7 or 12/21 would be cool. Who's got the pole? -
rahI vote 12/7. The later in the month things start getting hectic -- holiday parties, last minute shopping, traveling to see family. I also have a poll but it's probably only about 2.5 feet
-
bewitchedI voted 12/7 but I could make an appearance on 12/14 before or after another party. I'll be out of town by the 21 also. Based on the response perhaps we could consider other days as well. -
whyfi12/14. In MN 20th-28th and 12/7 is just too soon.
Actually, I was just informed that we'll be going to Radio City Christmas thing on 12/7, so 12/14 is the only day that I would have available... not that I'm a stranger to missing DH events. -
candicissimaOffice Christmas party (blech) is 12/7. I'm game for 12/14 or 12/21 though. -

Yeah. 12/14 is my holiday party for work.
I can't wait for the airing of grievances! -
bewitchedWhat's this grievances business about? And how about a Tuesday or Thursday since many of us have Wednesday things happening? -
dailyheights12/21 would be better, but if Emily can't make it I'd say 12/14. -
brookfetishFeats of Strength! -

I was thinking the same thing - since this is a special event why not a different day so everyone can make it. -
emilyI feel like Wednesday usually is the best day...but I'm open to suggestions. Would the 13th or 15th suit any of the people who CAN'T come on the 14th?
This always gets so complicated... -

Sorry, that's my selfishness talking - just want to be everywhere and I can't. I can do both the 13th or the 15th.

Nah, you weren't the only one!
Maybe we should aim for the Thursday for those who want to come to happy hour, but can't get down for mid-week drinking like us alkies.
-
emilyOkay, so let's talk Thursdays. I wish I could add more polls within the entries.
Is there anyone who could come the 14th but can't the 15th? -

Its from Seinfeld - Fesitvus was the holiday George celebrated and it began with the "airing of grievances"
-
bewitchedI got the general Festivus reference but didn't recall the details. It's all clear to me now. I was thinking man, that would be such a bummer to spend a holiday gathering bitching about the board! ;-) Color me the fool. -

Wasn't it George's father, not George, who came up with the Festivus idea? I could be wrong though ... just curious.
-
emilyI believe that George's father invented it and George observed the holiday only grudgingly. -
staceyYep your correct Flute and Emily  -
candicissimaFrom a Seinfeld fan site:Festivus Information:
Celebrated December 23rd each year.
The Meal: What ever you want
During the last few weeks in December when Festivus takes place, families and friends get together at the dinner table and have something called "the Airing of Grievances". Durning this time, we share with family and friends all the ways they had disappointed over the past year.
After the Airing of Grievances, we get together right in the same night to do something called "Feats of Strength". This is where the head of the household tests his/her strength with another friend or family member. The great honour is given out to a different person each year.
Now for the pole. No it is not a tree. A pole, no decorations. Frank Costanza believes that tinsel is very distracting so there are no decorations. The pole is tall, silver, hollow, long, skinny, and heavy. -
medusaI can make 12/15. -
teddyballgameWill there be feats of strength? -

Absolutely. We're also hoping for an anonymous guest vs. ellis g celebrity death match!
Alafairnadia has uniforms already designed for them! -

ellis g will be wearing a t-shirt that says "dude" and anon g. is going to be wearing a t-shirt that says "chalk". hopefully they will beat each other to death with words, chalk, and/or snow. there will be a special [redacted] cheering section. -
