While this thread is very entertaining, the most eye-opening part of it is seeing which restaurants are being mentioned as if they were respected (the ones listed above in particular). And I think Livetotravel just answered his/her closing question in his/her tagline.
I think that shite places that are quite obviously getting a lot of dollar votes can qualify as "overrated" - or at least "overappreciated" if they're not showing up in Michelin to provide an official reference point. Sotto Vocce has come up, and for good reason; the place is always busy, but...why? Years ago I had a meal there that was so bad I wanted to cry - I had always assumed they had gotten better, but it seems not. Location? Dunno.

Stone Park. Good cocktails; I don't remember much about the food.

given the re-def by LTT and zebra, I'll go with al di la. I was expecting the pasta to be amazing - it was good. I was expecting to find more than one wine I felt like drinking on the menu - I didn't. not saying I won't go back, but I definitely don't think the place is as awesome as everyone says it is. and the wait is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, LivetoTravel is on the money. You gotta be rated to be overrated. Picking on AOC? They just opened. They're not rated as anything yet. Aside from Al Di La, not many other places hit that mark.

I do think Lobo is trash though. Over-cheesed crap.

Yeah, as I recall Fairway has a sign on the doors to that beautiful patio out back saying "no alcoholic beverages."

    Alas.

I always felt like I was the only one who didn't get it. :)
I wouldn't mind eating there, but I'm not going to leap over a river and punch out a bell hop to get there.

All of those Greek frozen yogurt places. I can't walk by one without hearing someone yelling about how great the yogurt is. Maybe I would feel different if I liked yogurt.

I don't think they're Greek... if raw is talking about Oko or Yogomonster (is that what it's called)... they serve not-too-sweet unflavored (i.e. plain) frozen yogurt which may remind some of the Greek plain yogurts (like Fage), but I don't think they actually have anything to do with Greece.
