ugh Park Slope Ale House is horrible. Their beers are watered down and the service is incredibly slow. I've given them the benefit of the doubt and went back a few times, but it's off my list now.

Been to El Viejo Yayo, Piramide, Mediterra and Park Slope Ale House. Neither of them worth going back to, though PSAH is ok for a drink. Piramide the best of the four, EVY the worst.

Calexico - My gf likes them. It's pretty mediocre food, but filling and really, really cheap. Also, you don't have to fight for a table...that's the best of it. Would never be my first choice for Mexican. Staff always seems bored and bummed out.

Piramide - Slow service, high prices, unimpressive food. They tout these homemade muffins in their prix fixe brunch that are rock hard. The hot tea comes in a carafe that smells strongly of coffee.

Princess Pizza - I live a block from them on the same street and I never even think of them as an option. I mean, you could, but there are so many other joints in the same price range close by with better slices. Lenny's, Joe's, Aniello's...

Peperoncino is pretty good - haven't eaten there in awhile so thanks for the reminder that it exists. I especially love their soups and house made pasta. Haven't tried their pizza since the first time I went which was years ago, don't recall it.

I just tried Earth Tonez...pretty good.

Tonios is just average and I have to disagree with the person above...Tony is a total sleeze. I think the only way he stays in business is that he owns the building

We have lived in PS for 13 years and have never eaten at any of those places. And we eat out at least twice a week. Guess there's room for lots of restaurants in our ever-changing, culinarily-diverse neighborhood ;-)

I think PS has evolved into almost the perfect local neighborhood restaurant 'hood - like the West Village. We have our favorite 5-6 places that we constantly rotate 'cause we love the food, staff, owners and vibe. That's as it should be I think.

If the places mentioned are on your list - great - hope you enjoy them.

I remember being so happy when PSAH opened years ago because it is so close to my house, and I used to like them.

But, that hasn't been for many years now. slow service, horrible food. The atmosphere is nice though.

Aniello's Pizza is gone. The place is now called Peppino's.

Where's Honduras Maya? I've been trying to find a good Central American place.

Tried El Viejo Yayo once and was unimpressed. The mofungo was bland and dry.

I think we've ordered from Ginza and found it to be on par with most of the Japanese places in the Slope, i.e. not great, not bad.

Haven't tried any of the others.

Piramide - been two or three times for dinner. The food quality is all over the place - I've had horrible flabby tasteless chicken tacos, decent enchiladas mole and a sublime flank-steak special served on a tortilla. Guacamole is just OK, sometimes they chill the avocados and you can't taste any of the ingredients except avocado. The hostess can be a little overenthusiastic; service is friendly but not overly professional (long wait for drinks, have to wave them down for water refills, once they dropped the check without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert).

Park Slope Ale House - love the look of the place. Beer is good, food is some of the worst I've ever had. Limp sweet potato fries, salads with unappetizing mix of ingredients, bland burgers, a mug of (instant) hot chocolate with a piece of paper from the envelope floating on the surface. I'll stop in for a quick drink at the bar on a lazy weekend afternoon if I'm walking by but would never go out of my way to get there.

Lots of good places - Tapeo, Alchemy, Melt, Pepperoncino, Canaille... all close to the border of PS/PH. I haven't had a bad meal at any of these places!
