There's a new cafe getting renovated at Prospect Ave and 8th Ave - I don't know if this is close to you, but I am excited to check it out once it opens.

If you come with stroller Red Horse is your best bet. It's bigger, and there are always families in there with strollers. I actually prefer the Red Horse espresso beans to South Side's - but the drip at South Side is freakin' awesome. And the guys are nice...and apparently cute.
I must not go to Red Horse at the same time as you do, because (thankfully) I have never seen "families in there with strollers." I can only imagine such a thing on a warm day with all strollers outside. If you need stroller space or are super fat, you're better off hiking to Tea Lounge on Union Street. If you must have coffee and stroller space in South Slope, call up Side Car (or another near-by bar with decent-sized rooms) and see if they can offer morning baby coffee hours.

If you're desperate, there's a Mc Donalds on 9th Street near 5th Avenue.

Let me know the details on this place if you check it out... I'm on Prospect Ave btw 6th and 7th!

Red Horse all the way for me. Southside is good too... but not on my way to the subway.

I've seen the families there and not. A bit of a crap shoot.

Let me know if you see me there... you can tell its me my looking at my avatar. See, that's what my arm looks like.

Haha, yea, thanks! He's the only mini Aussie in Park Slope (from what we've seen). Say hi if you see him being walked by the wife or I!

There is not a single cup of good coffee in all of Brooklyn. What a shame.

So walking back home tonight, I noticed that Cafe Sutra has closed, and in the window is a link to the new place... Roots Cafe Brooklyn? Coffee, panini, live music? Kinda looking forward it.

You've tried Red Horse, South Slope, Cafe Grumpy, & Gorilla? I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob (no wait, I mean "cono sur") from Seattle and I actually agreed with you until I tried any of the above places. That list should give you a wide range of flavors, beans, roasts... all with well trained baristas to give a good extraction. All 4 with very different environments as well.

Not saying your wrong as it's a personal choice type of a thing, but just offering some location suggestions if you want.

Agreed, mpmav1. I also am from Seattle and can say that Southside holds its own against the best I had there. Gorilla is still my fave coffee anywhere, period, hands down.

U District, Shoreline, and Bellingham. Love Cap Hill, however.

Officially windsor terrace but I'll throw DUB pies on PPW and 16th st into the ring for good coffee in the south slope.
