The wife and I (no comments Beav!) had a wonderful meal there a few weeks ago. They are still working out the service, training new staff, etc, but the food was fantastic. We had an artichoke appetizer, they made me a veal francese and the Mrs. had the fish special. I recommend it.

There has been a big thread on this place, you should look for it.

We have been there at least 5 or 6 times, including going for New years Eve dinner and we love, love love the food there! It's is now one of my top places in Park Slope, food is outrageously good!

I had dinner there with my fiancee and her family a couple of weekends ago. We ordered a few apps and all had different entrees, and there wasn't a complaint among us. We all shared a couple of desserts as well, which were great. Probably the best Italian joint I've been to on the Slope (still need to make it to Al Di La one of these days).

It is really, really good. And I encourage everyone to go because lots of times when I walk by at night it's pretty empty. I'd hate for them to go under.

I suppose I need to say I am not a shill. I'm not a shill.

Yes, but should we really take the self-proclaimed "Mistress of Propaganda's" word for it? Well, yes, actually. I ate there a few weeks back. It was good, although for some reason I can't recall what I ate (no, I wasn't drunk - yet). I should really consider going back soon. As Torisoaw says, it's been pretty empty when I've walked past. I hope that those of us that can swing a couple of dinners out each week do what we can to support our local joints.

I've only eaten there a few times...but the food is really good and the owners are wonderful. It's too bad that they opened in the midst of a recession...makes it tough to eat out.

We did have dinner here last night. We had called ahead for an 8;30 reservation for 4 people. Unfortunately the reservation was not necessary because the restaurant was perhaps 1/3 filled.

We ordered appetizers to share that included artichoke, mozarella wound arounfd asparagus and herbs and a dish of brocollirabe . Entrees were two meat dishes.. Bracole (sp?) and fillet mignon and a whole fish that was de-boned table-side and surrounded with fresh seafood. No need to run down how each dish tasted. Everything was delicious. We ordered coffee and 2 desserts and 3 glasses of wine (should have bought the bottle) and one beer. With tip $50 each person.

It was not a pasta night
so can't tell you about the pasta selections but based on the plentiful other dishes I would guess the pastas are terrific as well. For sure if the mains were pastas and we didn't over do how much food we really needed (1/2 of the meat main dishes were packed up and taken home) this could be a far cheaper meal. I was curious to try a lot of variety and that pushed us to over-order.

Bottom line.. try it! As we walked up 5th ave we noticed many restaurants were short on patrons so Primo Atto needs a boost from Brooklynians.

That is my favorite appy there veets! So glad you liked the place, I find all their plates rather large. What dessert did you have?

Every weekend hubby and I go out to dinner, we notice tons of restaurants empty, the economy is really killing these places.

Does PS ever do a restaurant week? It might not be a bad idea for them to remind everyone they're here.

One dessert was this ice cream thing in pastry served with abundant chocolate sauce on the side and the other was a delicate pudding concoction.

i haven't seen much written about the place yet....new york mag or others....

maybe that would help draw in some business. looking forward to trying it...all the comments here sound great.

they just need some additional PR, it sounds like...

I know this sounds a little crazy but we had a dinner date with another couple and when they described what food they were in to eating they described Primo Atto... Italian... we like fish.. quiet so we can talk, attentive service, nice dessert so we can linger and talk... Bingo.. so we ate there Sat night again.

The staff seemed delighted that we had returned with other people in tow who potentialy might be delighted with the place as well and bring other patrons. ...so I think the service this evening was one step above last night. Still no pasta ordered (what is wrong with my friends? They just don't like pasta?) but I sampled 3 different salads on the menu and they were all terrific.

I ordered the sword fish which was just spectacular! I totally respect any place that cooks fish better than I do and sword fish is a trickey swimmer.. No Kidding 30 seconds beyond done destroys the texture.

I totally recommend this place... which was 1/2 filled... better than last night!!

    p.s.

and now I have to say I am not a shill. I am just so impressed.

Yeah veets, I am totally in love with this place too! We are going tomorrow night.

You have to, have to try the pasta next time you go, it is amazing! We have tried a couple of different ones but by far our favorite is the one with the pancetta and onions, just so damn good~!

Ha! I know you already tried to spot me once at Bogata ....LOL.

I definitely won't be there tonight, but I will go and eat that pasta dish and support them so they don't end up another closure.

    You go Flexi!

Well tonight I am not supporting any restaurant. I have cooking an oven stuffer... stuffed with many exotic things. To be served with it.. mashed potatoes with lots of fried onions, barely cooked string beans and a lovely salad.

Frankly, the week's shopping cost less than the two restaurant meals I had this weekend. Gotta cut back! Of course C Town shopping on a sunday afternoon was nothing I have anything good to say about.
