I'm bringing a croquet set and two people.

I'd like to hike... and BBQ.

I'm also a bit confused about where we're going... but never mind!

Not entirely sure I have transport yet. Depends on Stacey's puppy and whether or not whynot is hiring a van which is dependent on whether or not booklaw's cousin has her baby!

    So many variables!

Stacey - any news on the puppy shots?
Whynot - you wanna hire a car/van, or still waiting on word from booklaw?

    I'm demanding my answer tonight.

I'm bringing some hot dogs and buns , some snacks , and ketchup.

Can we stop by a super market on the way there ,too?

If someone has a cooler , I'd like to buy some water and cans of pop (<-live with it , bitches) to throw in there.

What's up with the van? Where the heck is Whynot?

Whynot , show yourself! I sent you a pm 4 days ago and it's still sitting in my outbox. Don't make me come over there. What's up?

I have a medium sized cooler (for water and soda, too).

I also have a fairly large cooler. I plan for it to be full of beverages and kalbi.

No baby yet. Looks good for Sunday.

    Where are we going?

What kind of beverages? Is it strictly alcoholic?

If you have room , let me know and I'll drop off some beverages at your place the day before.Throw them in your cooler early so that the drinks are ice cold when we get there. I despise warm drinks.

So is it gonna be Bear Mt. or Croton?

    Edited to add:

Never mind , Carny. I was able to clear out a spot in the fridge for a 12pk of diet pepsi. The water I have absolutely no room for. Hopefully someone will have cold water available when we get there.

Nomad - I will know by tomorrow morning about his shots.
Keeping my fingers crossed since I really want to go.

    Directions:

From New York City via Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge. Take the very first right onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway north. Go about 42 miles to exit 19.

Is anyone bringing a grill? Do they have grills there? Can Oscar man the grill?

Oh wait...I'm not going to bear mountian if my dog has to be muzzled and can't be allowed where we're all picnicing.

    Where are we going?
I was out of town, and now have returned. I've determined several things:

    1. This group is completely disorganized.
    2. There seems to be a shortage of vehicles, so I'm going to keep my van reservation ...even though briss boy is a no show.
    3. I hereby relinquish my seats in the Book(law)mobile and Em's Towncar.
    4. Who's in for the van?
    5. Where are we going?

I disagree completely. Directions are above. What to bring is posted on page 3 or so. You got the van. Briss boy is hiding in the womb in fear of having essential skin cut off right upon arrival. What's the problem?

My puppy will not have her shots in time for Sunday - I am really bummed (especially since I would get to ride with Nomad ;) ) so I have to bow out this time.

Oh I'm bummed too! We don't get to play with you and your new puppy! :(

Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully later in the summer they'll be more outdoor gatherings so we can hang out then.

I'm still after some transportation.... and I feel like I've (semi-)committed to going in your hired transportation.

    But:

If MeredithB will have me, and you want to go with booklaw we can do that...??

And... what about Mougar, Arches, Carmen & Bruno? They expressed interest initially but have been quiet on this thread... are you guys coming?

Beave is backing out too, so we need a ride for Scarlett and BrkBound.

I could take Scarlett and BrkBound and Nomad if someone wants to take my croquet set or I just don't bring it.

I didn't back out. I just refuse to go to a shitty park that has stupid rules. I'm not leaving my dog home all day by himself and I'm not buying him a muzzle or basically leaving him in the car since that seems to be the only place he's allowed up there. Fuck. Them.
  • meredithb
    meredithb
If your dog wears a muzzle so will I.

But I wouldn't worry about it (as Mamacita has said earlier)
  • christina

Carmen has a car, she may come on Saturday but isn't sure yet.

I'd bring Oscar without the muzzle. Who's checking?
Also, he's allowed on the hike ...just saying ;-)

Nope. I'm not going to risk the ticket or being forced to leave early. Obviously not everyone gets tickets or caught. However, It's too far a trip for me to think its worth it.

HA! Well...I'd ask people who did this last year what exactly happened with dogs last year.

I'd say buy a muzzle, bring it, so that if a ranger was to give us any crap we could say it was taken off so the dog could eat and drink. Worst scenario, the dog stays in the car some of the time and I wear the muzzle.
  • christina

We weren't there with dogs last time but I seem to recall other parties that had one and there were no issues.
Even worse, there were loud teenagers without muzzles and nobody complained.
