I know nothing about the restaurant, nor do I know why some here seem to have negative feelings about it, but I am not looking forward to another empty storefront. I don't think there are a lot of businesses banging on doors in order to open up new stores/restaurants right now.

trust that there is good reason why people are not sorry to see Elementi go....sorry to hear about Tempo and Primo Atto...but not sorry at all about Elementi

Fiance and I ate at Elimenti last month- we liked it. We're sorry to see it go.

Now if we could just get rid of the 6,000 other random Italian places offering overpriced, mediocre food. Tonio's, Tutta Pasta, etc etc etc.

I ate there twice. We enjoyed it both times. I agree, another empty storefront is not good.

I only ate at Elementi once but I thought the food was good.....and I don't like the idea of so many businesses closing....

I vaguely remember some stuff from a while back (must admit, I my eyes glaze over when you PSlopers complain about restaurants), did a search, but couldn't find the "dirt."

It seems the restaurant owners were po'd about comments made here, found out that said commenter worked at a nearby business and threatened owners of such business. Karma is so right in this case. Out-of-place restaurant, championed by the grande dame of neighborhood bloggers.

I do remember those posts but I took them with a grain of salt...I believe there was also something at the time about Stone Park which turned out to be untrue

Does NoNo still have a "for rent" sign up? If so, it doesn't bode well for the Elementi or Little D spaces being rented any time soon.

Tutta Pasta sucks, but why would you hate on Aunt Suzie's? While it might not win any awards, it's a perfectly adequate, affordable neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Totally agree about Aunt Suzies but at least they are cheap. Elementi/Bussaco should be judged on a different level with their prices. Both come up short.

I'd rather spend a little extra $$ at Blue Apron on pasta and cook it myself.

No, that was completely true.

The owner of Elementi made a choice about the type of people he wanted patronizing his restaurant. He was very vocal about this choice, stating a specific group of people were not welcome. He did all of this before the place even opened so he effectively alienated a large group of potential customers. Maybe things would have been different if he hadn't done that.

dw438's explanation regarding the other part is mostly accurate, although the only person threatened was me not my boss.

Even though Elementi's people were jerks about picking fights with people who post here, it's a shame that so many local restaurants are croaking...it's like a bad sign that the neighborhood is a rollin' down the hill....

I feel bad any time a business closes, especially now. Times are tough and decent jobs are hard to find.

Well, meeting and knowing at least one of the managers of Elementi's personally, I never had any problems with them or saw any type of mean-spiritedness emanate from them at all. If anything it seemed they went out of their way with patrons to make sure they were enjoying their meal. As far as Tonio's being a mediocre red sauce place, I beg to differ. In my opinion they're one of the most underrated restaurants in the Slope. They also happen to be an institution in PS. I believe they've been here for at least 50 years run by the same family.
