Official: midnight ride tonight, meet at the GAP arch at 12AM for a couple laps followed by pre-J'ouvert drinks. We could also meet at 1 or 2 instead if that's better for timing, but not before midnight

Ditto. I may be cranky for the first couple of minutes but that's just cause I'll be tired. Biking will wake me up.

Great outcome last night, and eventful ride, followed by good drinks and J'Ouvert. Shame on you for missing it!

I suck at life- I was having some sort of delirious nightmares induced by my phone blowing up with texts from yall. It would have been sort of a sketchy walk anyway... where did you guys lock your bikes?

Whoa, you're all over the place with this last post.
Face it, you're popular. And there are cabs or bikes. Carni's place & homes of others.

haha it was only 3 but i sort of semi remember the noise working into some strange work-related dream I was having. I was actually curious about the bikes though, locking them on the street seemed like a bad idea...

Thanks for the ride last night folks. That was fun. I wish I did go drinking with you because I woke up to find out that Governor's Island is closed on Mondays - even Labor Day. Next time I'll do it. Though if anyone's interested, it might be more fun to drink first.

I didn't know what Gov's island was all about so I googled. The info below may be important to those planning a trip there. Only a few weeks left to do so!

Governors Island is open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 30 through October 11 for the 2009 season.

I'm thinking of doing it, either the 35 or 55 mile route.

I'm game. What time are people going? And are you biking there or taking the subway?

Mrs why and I were out there two weeks ago. We walked around, but many people brought their bikes, and there are bikes for rent.

    ...very nice spot.

I don't know if anyone else here rides fixed, but on Friday nights in the park there will be a series of races hosted by my good friend, former roommate and Cat 4 Velo NY state champ starting in the next couple of weeks. Sounds intense, but is a good time. The series is called 'Boogie Nights'

    Races? Intense? Ummm...

Regarding Sunday, I'll probably take the subway. I know that's like taking the elevator in the gym only to use the stairmaster afterwards, but at that hour I don't feel like riding up to Harlem yet.

I've got no problem taking the subway there. I don't like backtracking anyway. Do you want to meet at the subway then? Which one and what time? If we're doing 55 miles or less, we don't need all day, so it doesn't have to be at 6 in the morning. I think if we get to the starting line at 9am, we should be good. What do you think?

OK, this is clearly the least "impromptu" ride yet!

There definitely will be a lot of beer afterwards, even if it takes longer to get to it.

J.O. - not sure when I'm heading out yet, but we can coordinate closer to the date.

Ok, I registered for the century so I'm definitely going now. Unfortunately it looks like it will have to be an early start. I didn't realize the last one starts at 8am.

I'm doing the century as well. Looks like it starts a lot earlier than what a few of you stating? My email says to get there at 545am.

I'm likely going to do the 75mile. Anyone doing that?
