If I were allergic to dogs I wouldn't jog through one of the ONLY offleash areas in the entire city during the select hours that off-leash is permitted. I would, I don't know, walk somewhere else.

Every other dog owner in the park had the common courtesy to call their dogs after their dogs had a proper chance to sniff around, while this dog owner did not.

*sigh* Off leash hours are til 9 AM. Regardless of control or out of control, you run the risk of having tons of dogs at least in the shot when you choose to have your crappy band photos done in one of the few areas that allow dogs to run off leash. There are several other acres of parkland that do NOT allow unleashed dogs no matter what time of day. Not rocket science.

Additionally, if you will need an unobstructed set for a photoshoot, maybe you should RENT a space and not rely on a public park. It is just that...public.

In a vacuum all dogs should come when they're called. But when you have 15 dogs running around, playing, chasing each other etc I'd bet that half of the dogs who ordinarily come when they're called will stop running at 30mph chasing another dog. In my limited dogpark experience I have not even seen anyone try to stop their dog at a full sprint or in mid-play. I would say one would have to have an exceptionally well-trained dog for it to stop chasing a ball and recall on command.
And its virtually impossible to predict the actions of a puppy with 100% accuracy. I would imagine that even non-dog owners recognize this and would avoid areas swarming with dogs and puppies if they have serious business to attend to or a serious aversion to dogs.

We're discussing the fact that a cheap ass band decided to use a field at the park that has been designated an off-leash section of parkland and had the audacity to get mad when dogs came near them and their stuff.

they had a right to be left alone after a certain point (yes, even in the off-leash area). all the other dogs left them alone. not that one, because it wouldn't listen to its owner.

playground = made for children. it is their area, designed specifically for them to have fun. the equivalent of this for a dog would be a dog run.

off-leash area = are designed for humans to enjoy themselves where dog owners can also let their dogs off-leash on the condition that they have control over them. this area is still FOR PEOPLE, but dogs can run around off-leash provided that they do not disturb the people and their owners can control them.

it doesn't change the fact that people have the right to not be bothered by dogs inside off-leash areas. i'm sorry. i, for one, would just avoid the areas, but a person would not be in the wrong to complain about being annoyed by a dog that would not listen to its owner inside the off-leash area.

I would think that if one expects a 7month old puppy to come when its called (keeping in mind it has aprox a 1.2sec attention span) that a 4 year old human child should be expected to come when he or she is called. Unless you're saying a human child is less trainable and more naturally curious than a puppy.
