Y'all brought some awesome food and drinks! We had a lot of fun--it was a great crowd. I'm glad so many made it out, and personally, I was happy to have it here instead of dragging all that food into the middle of the park :)

I would like to point out that the bacon cookies were pretty much finished off by the time everyone left. Next time I just need to add more bacon.

I'll be waiting for someone to plan the next event here!

This man should be banned from working with fire.

I'm sorry about the bacon, next time there will be metal skewers and therefore less fire.

How did I miss the fire? Metal skewers can be hard to find, but I was inspired by the ones Carni had to look for good ones.

I have to say that once we put all the left over food away and dishes in the dishwasher, our place looks no worse for the wear other than a few crumbs on the counters. You can all come back!

Moug did you soak the skewers for 24 hours?

Handy tip: if you don't use all your soaked skewers, put them in the freezer for next timem

i soaked the skewers for a few hours, but they were super thin so they couldn't hold much water. i'm just getting metal ones for next time.

happily i didn't cut myself on the bacon

I think he did soak them, overnight in fact. I've actually never had good luck with wooden skewers, even if I soak them for two days. I think their usability is a myth.

I think they're ok as long as most of their length is covered by meat/veg and only the very ends are exposed. But if you only have a small piece of meat at the end of the stck, the rest of the stick is going to burn.

Yes, I agree. My shrimp skewers in Portland were delicious and perfect! Also, Voodoo's skewers last night were fine. I think we agree it's all Mougar's fault.

Mougar brought the slab bacon, he is God's gift to BBQ's no matter what grease fires he creates. Kinda like when I almost burned down Voodoo's place making bacon wrapped dates.
