Jeffrey, did you intend the spellcheck to be off as default, needing to be reenabled for each new post?

Until I read more of the config specs, yes.

    Ta-da!

It should now be enabled by default.

But you may need to hold down SHIFT while you click Refresh button in your browser in order to lose the prior default "off" setting from your browser's cache.

Let me know if anyone sees that it's not working somehow.

    Thanks!

Note the folks in ( ). These seem to be folks who have selcted the "remain hidden" option. But clearly their attempt is thwarted. Somehow, by selecting the hidden option, I can see other people who are hidden, which kinda defeats the feature.

I kinda breezed through thois thread and I'm not sure if it's been addressed and/or fixed:

When I click on a neighborhood, it puts me in the middle of the page, so I always have to scroll up to get to the top of the threads. It also does this when I click on any thread- still puts me in the middle of the page. Argh.

Eh, I don't hate it, but the text along the top is making me panic, so it's kinda hard to get a handle on the other stuff that may or may not deserve my scorn.

Fixed. I'm surprised it took this long for somebody to report it. So, anonymous users... are now even more anonymous than before.

If you really want a big thrill...

    1) Expand your browser as big and wide as possible.

    (maximize to full-screen or whatever)

    2) Go here:

It may lead to a significantly less big thrill but just fixed the escalating font size by reducing settings for the default body font-size:1.2em down to 1em.

That way it wont get increasingly bigger (1.2x, 20% with every subsequent quote of someone else.

Ha, can't believe that was a default.

Folks are welcome to have another look, especially via their mobile phones (and yeah, via smartphones and iPhones that can display regular web pages just fine):

    http://m.brooklynian.com

One note: when your phone is getting lousy coverage this bare-bones theme loads in *lightning* fast compared to the regular site.

I will probably take a look at optimizing basics like colors etc. over the next few days but we're going to keep it as image-free as possible to help it be more polite for limited mobile phone display capabilities (namely, screen size) and erratic data speeds.

I'll post here once it's been updated again.

Caveat: the quote function may need more testing. It *DOES* actually quote (even quotes of quotes) via the shorthand code that appears, so have no concern about "empty" blockquote tags. They will in fact be filled in properly when you submit the post.

    Thanks!

Just checked it out on my blackberry, looks great! I have a small screen and I can read everything clearly and it all makes sense. Yahoo

I haven't tried to post from the BB yet, but really, I only post and reply from my laptop so that is not an issue for me.

I think this was directed at me, right? It happens when I click onto any neighborhood- it starts to load correctly, and then it spits me down to the middle of the page.

Ok, so it looks like the 'quote' button isn't working either....sigh. Annoyed.

I have problems with quote too and I'm getting quite annoyed with it.

As for the jumping the page issue, I don't really understand. If you can paste the specific URL here, it would help.

BTW, will the private messaging be improved? In the past we could see sent msgs, outbox, deleted messages, etc.

Actually, there's no need for an outbox or sent message view with the new Private Message system, since all of your PMs are in one place. The only thing I think you can't do with the new system is see when somebody reads your message (i.e. the message won't move from outbox to sentbox after it gets read).

I don't recall being able to see deleted messages in the old system? What are you referring to?

I'm having trouble using the quote feature.

It's very wonky trying to format specific paragraphs. And just now I couldn't highlight text to quote part of it, and leave part of it unquoted.

Also when I selected multiple paragraphs, it seemed to arbitrarily choose which text to quote.

Also I couldn't figure out how to quote something within a quote.

It's working for me now, but it's also unpredictable for me. I couldn't get it to work yesterday.
