Unless police and the medical examiner have determined she was stabbed at about 4:50 PM, after finding her deceased at around 8 PM, we seem to have a time conflict between the Patch and DNA reports.

I live down the block. They did not find her at 8pm. Cops were on the block from at least 5:45/6pm, when I went to take my dog for a walk. The Patch report was early and incorrect. The DNA timeline is correct.

WNBC is reporting that she did not live in the building:

A 57-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a Brooklyn apartment late Thursday, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call at the home on Park Place in Crown Heights found with woman had been stabbed several times in her stomach and arm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the victim did not live at the home where she was found.

CROWN HEIGHTS - A murder investigation is underway after a woman was found brutally stabbed to death in a Crown Heights home.

Police say they responded to a call around 5 p.m. yesterday at 589 Park Place. When paramedics arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman dead with a stab wound on her arm and upper body.

Investigators have not identified any suspects or made any arrests. Police have not named the victim as they are still trying to notify family members

Got scared for a minute when I read the address. I insure a building across the street and wasn't sure if it was the one that I have. Luckily it wasn't.

My heart goes out to the family, what a horrific way to lose a loved one. Does anyone know details yet, or her identity?

When I moved to Classon Ave. over 10 yrs ago, I was really afraid to walk home at night, especially because few street lights worked on the 2 blocks between the shuttle and my apt. But over the last few years I've felt safer with less crime and more police presence. However, I'm still reeling over hearing that this woman was so brutally murdered in broad daylight. If the murderer(s) were so bold enough to commit this tragic act in the middle of the day, what else are they capable of?

I've also lived here more than a decade. Over that time, nearly every serious violent crime has been committed by people that are aquainted with one another. Yes, there is the occasional random act of violence, but that is the outlier and not the norm.

I agree that violence in the area is usually intended for someone they know, but who was the last person to die on this block from violence? Oh, an innocent 56 year old woman.

Yes, it was probably by the cops. And yes it was in crossfire from a shootout(I was there for this one, it was incredibly scary) but itwasntvery latest night and clearly the lock didn't seem too violent for a woman to sit on her stood and for many people to be walking down the block at the time.

We don't even know that the woman was murdered there. Her body could have been dumped after the fact.

It's a little odd that there is zero news coverage of this event, besides the link above.

There is way more to this story than meets the eye. No way a woman got stabbed that many times without yelling. And at that time of the day, the odds of it occurring on the street with zero witnesses is almost nil.

Homeowner that's what I find most disturbing. How could no one have seen or heard anything when the stabbing was in progress?

Yeah, but in Kitty's case everyone saw and heard and no one did anything. There isn't (at this point) any indication that anyone saw or heard anything prior to the woman being found. At 4:45-5:00pm that's pretty unusual.

The spot where they found her is an exterior stairwell that's not really visible from the street, and barely visible from the front stoop. I doubt this happened during the daytime -- someone would have had to have heard something.

I hope this isn't the case, because the thought of her laying there for almost a full day is incredibly tragic and sad.

The only thing I saw online about the victim was that she "lived a solitary, eccentric life". I am curious to know more about what happened and I hope they find her killer.

This follow-up story states she lived a few blocks away, on St. John's. The murder seems to have made Ray Kelly's daily (?) press briefing, and he stated detectives were working on it.
