edited November -1 in Park Slope

There was an emergency drill In Prospect Park this afternoon. it's probably a dry run in case there's a problem when Obama visits P-Tech this Friday.

I've instructed my son, if a problem occurs and he rings my bell don't answer it, I already have health insurance.

I thought the helicopters would be black. Very disappointing.

The Parks Alliance is stating the park will closed from 12 - 6 on Friday, as part of the security for Obama's visit.

It seems like he will be flying into and out of the park.

You might still be able to see it taking off and landing from Grand Army or the library.

And I thought you had to have a permit to use the softball fields.

I think most of us are working on a Friday. Clearly, we are not his intended audience.

Rumored route: Empire, to Kingston ave. http://crownheights.info/crown-heights-news/405762/obamas-motorcade-to-travel-up-kingston-ave/#comments

The photos caught the attention of the Daily News yesterday afternoon , they called and asked, if the do an article can they use them.

I said sure and mention I'll probably get a visit from Holder and be given two options, be arrested for endangering the President or sign up for Obama Care.

If this occurs, I'll ask him for a 24 hour grace period before responding.

I am glad they can't deny you coverage for pre-existing conditions.

CBS ran the pictures on their 5 o'clock news today and will probably use them again at 11.

I did all-right for just three pictures, thank you obama, be sure to come back again next year.

What would make that better is if they used your Avatar to say who they got the picture from lol

I consider that one of his pre-existing conditions.

With CBS using Eye On NY as their theme , I doubt they would be that short sighted to use my avatar.

But let me SEE what I can do.

Your eye would give them better coverage than many media outlets.

Junior's really?!? One meal in Brooklyn to impress the President of the United States and that's the plan?

If I had guests in town for a month and I was trying to impress them by going to a different restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Junior's would still not make the cut.

All of Brooklyn should be embarrassed by this choice!

Hopefully they put all the garbage cans back out soon--they removed tons of them, I guess so a bomb couldn't be hidden in one. People were carrying bags of dog shit for 20-30 minutes this morning while looking for a can.

Yeah, It's kind of gross when you almost run into a bunch of horse shit in the middle of the freaking road. Plus horses? Hello NYPD the wild west sheriff wants his trusty steed back.

The PD must have lots of spare change since using bikes would be a lot more convenient, cheaper, make the cops a lot more mobile, and insure that the public is protected a lot more effectively.

Horses are still used in NYC because they are effective at crowd control. One policeman on a bike could easily be overwhelmed by a group of 4-5. The height of the officer on horseback and the size of the animals make crowd control much easier and more effective. This is why horses remained even after forces went to motorized vehicles.

There's also the fact that a lot of city folks are scared of/intimidated by animals generally and those that aren't usually don't want to harm the animals. All in all, from the police perspective their ability to protect themselves from the masses and possibly subdue a crowd trumps the convenience, cost savings, and mobility of a bike force. Plus the horses are cool in parades.

    ,

You right on about [ how 70's is that ] the use of horses over bikes.

If I was an officer I'd find riding a bike humiliating and would refuse to do so.

The funny part of that photo is thats my nephew pointing at the sign, who on many occasions i warned I better never catch him riding sidesaddle.

    More horses, fewer cars.

If you have a horse, do you have to move it for Alternate Side regulations?
