According to this article in today's NY Times, we cannot expect to see the demise of Crocs anytime soon. However, the author does question the rationale most people use for wearing them (comfort). I think this message board is a major source for NY Times articles...

Oh armchair.. let me guess.. you don't own a pair of Crocs.. right??

Because if you did.. I venture to guess you would be convinced on the "comfort" argument.

Now the style consideration (or lack of style or sin against style) would still be a valid argument even if these uglified shoes had made it to surround your feet!

Personally .. I read the article and "almost" bought another pair of Crocs!!

(One thing I love about this forum... almost any subject at all will create fodder for discussion!)

if an 8 year old stomped a pigeon to death while wearing crocs (while caregivers wearing crocs watched and did nothing) then this board would have even more fodder for discussion

Subject: Maddox lost quite some time ago

Maddox is the kind of person that has to ride a bike to work, no not chooses to, HAS to. When medical professionals embrace a piece of footwear due to total hours on their feet, and the public follow because of comfort and convenience, why backlash? I pay more attention to an individuals perceived intentions than footwear.

Or better yet, if a West Indian nanny sitting with her entrusted lily white infant at Starbucks tried to pour lethally hot water into a Croc, and it spilled through the holes onto little baby Dillinger, who would be courageous enough to promptly report it to the online community? :?

    Right On!

And I would never "polish" my Crocs to bring back the shine! That no shine/wear these a lot look is a badge of courage. It shows me I am a strong enough person to trek through Park Slope Crocified and dodge all those nasty looks and side comments people probably are making on brooklinian about me.
