  • Hi All,

Been busy - my sister (Constance) had her hip replaced and was in the hospital/rehab @Carmel Richmond for the past 4 weeks but she finally came home on Saturday. She's doing well and is looking forward to being able to walk w/out a walker. My niece calls me Aunt "Meals-0n-Wheels" - cause I cook then bring it over and feed the masses!! I do drive-by's too! LOL!! Between her and work - I'm working OT on average 2 nights a week - I'm beat! Need a vacation.

    Otherwise all else is good.

Will try to come back on at least once a day.

Hope all's well w/everyone. Happy Belated everything to all - just in case I missed anyone's anything!!

    Later!

  • Karen, Glad to hear Constance is feeling better...well wishes for her complete recovery.

  • HI KAREN.. YOU ARE SOMETHING ELSE.. THEY ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU.

SEND CONSTANCE MY WISHES FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY!!!

HI JUDY..ENJOY THE NIGHT.. I HATE MONDAYS, TOO ](*,)

  • June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot- hold in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high -more than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded -- but more than 100,000 Soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler.

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE ALWAYS DEFENDED OUR COUNTRY

  • GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS :)

CUZ..THANX FOR THE LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY.

IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO STOP & REMEMBER & GIVE

    THANKS TO OUR 'HEROES'..XX

    WEATHER IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS.

    GET OUT & ENJOY!!! :flower:

  • If it wasn't for our brave men and women fighting all the wars that have spanned the centuries and continents none of us would be able to be typing/writing/thinking/saying everything we do. It's becaue of them that we are truly free and no one, no way, no how, is ever going to take that right from us. Thank you really isn't enough but it'll have to suffice.

    My thought for the day.

Busy for a change. Hi to all. Judy - I wrote Mr. Bliss and he told me he heard from you. Anyway, just a quick type-by, hopefully later'll be better.

  • Hi All

Have a great day. My condolences to Anna Marie Romanelli Shannon

    Rosalie her Mom passed away.

    A lovely lady she was.

She was a fun mother when we were kids, always played board games with us.

Very fond memories growing up in the Romanelli house hold and Dritto hosuehold.

  • Hi-haven't been on a while..been sick in bed since last Friday with heavy cold & throat infection...my GF had to come over & brought me some home-made chicken soup...Debbie-I hope you're feeling better...Jerry Happy Belated Birthday...Patsy & Debbie-you'd hate it in Chicago-almost 100 degrees right now..have some good news...my daughter Jessica got engaged..bit of a shock!! Wedding won't be until fall next year...well-have to go back to bed so I can finally go back to work tomorrow...talk to everyone soon..bye

  • Ouch #@%&;* My tooth still hurts. Yesterday my Dentist took out the temporary crown and installed the permanent one. Last night it hurt like a son of a *+&%$. Went back to him this A.M. He feels that it will gradually stop hurting on its own. He double checked it and said it looked good and the pain was more then likely from all the fitting and poking around he had to do yesterday. I hope he is right. He is leaving for a 10 day trip to Italy with his family tomorrow.

Hey Anna, sorry you have been sick. Maybe you should have had some of my brandy in the Chicken Soup. Are you sure it is not because the Cubs are doing so poorly!! The Cubs & the Mets both are terrible this year.

I am glad that some people remember D-Day. It was the beginning of the end for Adolph & his sadistic buddies. The paper here did a nice article on a D-Day veteran. Some times the papers do not even mention D-Day!!! ](*,)

  • Hi Warren-LOL...I don't think any of the Chicago teams can ever win...this town is so enthusiastic with its sports teams but never quite make it!!!the Cubs & Sox are both terrible teams...some of your brandy sounds good...I bet that would clear my sinuses right away...hope you feel better with your tooth..having dental problems is the worst...well, I'm going to rest so have a nice day...bye

  • #1 Terry. Controlling the B/P is not an impossible task. As far as the salt is concerned, you must read all the labels of Canned or Frozen foods. It is not the salt shaker on the table unless you use it all the time. We end up throwing salt out when it hardens because we NEVER use it. Walking excercise helps also. Also, if you e-mail the NIH (National Institute of Health) and request info on High B/P they will give you choices of all kinds of information. Last but not least, if your Doctor prescribes a medication for it (which I doubt because yours is NOT that high) follow the directions carefully.

Patsy, the tooth is calming down well. Took two Extra Strength Tylenol at bedtime and it seems to be working okay. Still senstive to hot or cold but not hurting all the time like it was before. The Crown they put on is a replacement for an old one that they had to grind off with the drill! I think that is where a lot of the pain came from.

Judy, thanks for the sympathy. When it comes from someone who has had similar or the same treatments it makes you feel better. I bet that finger hurt as much as my tooth.

  • HI JUST PASSING BY, TRYING TO MAKE UP TIME FOR SOME MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS THIS WEEK, HAVE TO SHORTEN MY LUNCH HOUR. ANNA, FEEL BETTER SOON, MY HUSBAND WAS SICK FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS, HE STAYED IN BED, NO APPETITE, THINK IT WAS A VIRUS.

  • Thursday June 9 - a heartfelt greeting from St Paul, MN:

Happy Brooklyn Day one & all.

  • Hello All, Just wanted to remind you that this used to be Anniversary Day and was to celebrate the Anniversary of the Brooklyn Sunday School Union. No, not a Labor Union but an association of all member Sunday Schools in Brooklyn and later included Queens. The parade was immense and ended with thousands of people coming from all directions into the Sheep meadow in Prospect Park. Many dignitories attended, including Mayor Laguardia, Gov. Dewey & President Roosevelt. The 12th Street Reformed Chuch dressed many of the younger children in Dutch outfits (Blue & Gold) and had a Windmill on wheels about 7 feet tall. One child was picked each year to ride the Windmill. I was lucky enough to be picked one year and was brought up to Gov. Dewey for picture taking. (Alas I do not have a copy.) When I got a little older I was part of the water brigade. We (about 3 of us) would carry water buckets & ladles and fill the buckets with water when we got to the park and gave everyone drinks. Some years it was very hot like it is up there now and the water was very welcomed by all. Memories :-({|=

  • Hi Warren,I remember those parades from many years ago..My Sunday School paraded on Ocean Parkway close to our church which was on Cortelyou Rd and East 7th street. It was quite a happening when I was young. I hadn't thought about those parades in many years. Thanks for mentioning them. Pauline
