  • Okay, I'm officially burnt out from all the excitment. So I'm having a huge White Russian, I've updated the Photo Show, and I need to move on to another project. I know, I'll start working on next year's reunion. I'm having a blast! I wish I did not live in Florida. So many of you are getting together and that is great. If any of you live in Florida, let me know.

My cousin, Teresa Golina, calls me all the time and the other day she shared an old recipe with me. Before the reunion, I had not heard from her since my wedding 9 years ago. LOVE YA TERESA AND ROSA.

I love you Debbie and Karen Bonavita. Karen, I had your Pasta Badane when I got home from the reunion. I was starving because I only had one hot dog. Now I see pictures of all the delicious food I missed. I think there was even Fried Calamari!

Marilyn, I'm sorry I did not meet you, but when looking at the pictures, I totally remember all you guys.

Carol Lovaglia - I never met her before, but we ,managed to talk on the phone for nearly an hour after the reunion. I love itl

I'm still overwhelmed with joy over this entire experience. I truly cannot wait until next year. At that time, I will be SURE to take a group photo for all to take home as well as more group family shots. Sorry guys. I was so caught up in the moment that I neglected to take these special shots.

Have a great night and keep staying in touch.

  • Anthonhy Umbria,

I still don't have your home address, email, etc. Do you want to miss out on next year's event too? Get with it!

  • BOB HORAN,

Fran La Greca emailed me before and she said she found the "Italian Princess".

Be on the lookout for infomation regarding her. I must have lost a few days on the blog, I do not know what this is all about.

  • ANOTHER TRIBUTE TO PARK SLOPE AND OUR HERITAGE....

I've been thinking about this for a long time. And everytime I see food mentioned on this site - it makes me say 'i have to do it.' And maybe
because I just made a big pot of gravy with 50 meatballs, pork bones,
    sausages, etc...
(TERRY, I ate too much gravy bread and fried meatballs.)

    Back to point -

I would love to pull together a 'book' of recipes from our neighborhood.

We have such a great heritage, wonderful 'cooks' in our families, and
great traditions that have been passed down. So many of you are
exceptional 'chefs' ---- you know who you are.. We'd all appreciate
    having this resource and memory.

So why not share a recipe, and tell a little story about your grandma who
brought her Pasta Badan recipe from Naples. What a masterpiece this can be - celebrating our diversity and all the great foods of our past and present.

My grandmother lived across the street from us on 20th St in a six-family
house. There were Italian, Puerto Rican and Irish families happily co-existing in the same building. Smell the aroma of the different foods...
Celebrate the richness of our cultures.

Let's document it, share it - and keep it alive!!!

    WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Ok - I have to go now; I think my husband is starting to think I am having an online affair.
(Even though he already went to bed; guess the Mets screwed up again.)

    good night to all......
  • ANYONE WHO RECEIVED MY PHOTOS THE NAMES WERE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PHOTOS IN CASE U DID NOT KNOW WHOW WAAS WHO.
  • GOOD NIGHT ALL.

ANYONE FIGURE OUT YET WHO THE ITALIAN PRINCESS IS?

JANET HORAN I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME IN THE GREATEST BORO EVER :)
  • Christina, Your entry, (Friday 26th 8:57pm) This is why I say you're so prolific. The slide show was such a drama. LOL beautiful..

Tell Theresa Golino, I want to meet them. I want to see Sossio.
  • FRANCESCA,

I love your recipe sharing idea. I'll try and find a way we can pull all the recipes together and create a book. Perhaps it could be ready by the next reunion.

Teresa Golina Gallo was cooking Escarole in chicken broth with baby meatballs the other day. How delicious is that. I also remember Ann Schiarall making spaghetti with ricotta and grated cheese (white). So simple, so delicious. I still make the big sicilian rice balls with the peas and chopped meat. When I make these dishes, my home comes alive. Remember the chick pea sandwiches? I think you can still get them from Joe's on Avenue U.

    Okay, now I'm starving!

    I love you, Francesca.

    Christina
  • Terry/Christina - You girls really pulled it off. To have a whole neighborhood after all these years, all come back to one location and be together was a very unique experience. I know that all of us who were there are still talking about it. Have to say THANKS! It was great seeing people I have not seen in decades come back into my life. Now for the next reunion which will be even bigger! As you can see people who are starting to write on this blog who are from "our" neighborhood but did not get the chance to come 9/21.
Christina - great slide show of the party.
Ralph & Maryann - You guys looked GREAT! It seems like time had stopped for you two 30 years ago. GOD BLESS to all of you. Many more names I want to mention but I'm getting tired of typing. A big round of applause to all of us that were there on 9/21 =D>
  • FRANCESCA....Would like to see the PICS. mmichel11@tampabay,rr.com. THANKS MIKE.
