Bob Horan- Would it be in the shape if an Italian Princess? Hahha.
SO-Here is the email I received from the Italain Princess who so badly wants to reconnect. I found her on one of the neighboring blogs.
Hi Fran
This is the Italian Princess from the Brooklynian blog. Thank you so much for responding to my blog. It is nice to kow that there are good people out there. My name is Rose. Is your name on the blog your real name, or is it a screen name? I wonder if my sister's know you. My mom use to call my sister a gypsy because she was all over the Slope. My sister's name is Louanne a/k/a Louise. She married Drew Smith from 16th Street and Webster Place. I don't know where to go for that blog Brooklyn Back When. I am new to the site. My x sister in law in Vegas told me about the site and I think it is awesome. It's really nice to talk to people who still live in the neighborhood and really stuck it out. I wanted to own a home of my own and just couldn't afford it. So, I relocated to Sarasota Florida in 1994.
I appreciate you trying to connect me with some old friends.
Thank again for the response. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Take care,
Rose

Hello Everyone!
Thank you Fran for connecting me to this blog. I apologize for dropping off like Hudini. I just couldn't locate it again after the first time I entered it. I seem to locate the 70's & 80's page easily. I remember so much about Park Slope and my childhood. I spoke to my sister and she is going to join it as well. I am excited about possibly reconnecting with some old friends and classmates. Talk to you later. -

JUDY & TERRY,
YES, it is Doris. Although there is a GREAT place in Hollywood. Mimi's Ravioli. They have delicious dry sausage, fresh mozzarella, and AWESOME MEAT PIE during EASTER. So good, I did not bake it myself one year and just purchased it there. They do the grain pies too. They do not have prepared foods, but have GREAT pastry. I'll bet Anthony and Donna Gagliardi know of this place since they have a place in Hollywood.
Does Judy live in Florida? I should know this since I have the list of our friends.
LOVE,
TWIGGY -

PATSY,
just came back. had our zeppoles and bought some things.I go every year. I have been going since Michael was a baby. that is over 30 years when it first started and it is a tradition. I broke the tradition today and did not eat in mike's pizzeria every year we eat there. My michael just came back from poughkepsie from seeing jonathan at college and he is on his way to complete the tradition with his wife, tracie and little mia. Even with the broken toe i had to go and i am glad i did. BROOKLYN IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!!love cuz terry I am nuts I look at my atch and keep saying to judy and mike oh last week at this time we were etc etc etc i am still living the reunion memories over and over in my head. lol -
TWIGGY...Wonderful Slide Show. THANKS. MICHAEL.

Hey Aunt Jeanette! You're on with a real name. I guess Tommy was there to help you! Hahha. Hi Cuz! Love you both sooooo much.
-
A cook book sounds good. I use to go to Joe of Ave U all the time. Good Sicilian food. Panelle - chick peas ricotta on a roll with grated cheese toasted.
Christina, Terry and Maggie Narducci your photos and shows are terrific. They look so professional. I was able to put Maggies on a disk, still trying to figure out how to do Christina and Terry's. I have so many photos, in books, shoe boxes, stashed in closets. I prefer disks, then will come a day that I have too many disks. Oh well. With the disk you can always print a photo if needed.. The reunion was fantastic, nothing was forgotten. From tee shirts, photos while entering, great food, cake, candy and egg creams. Was a wonderful day. Santina -
Fran: Are you officially stating that Rose Taliercio is the elusive Italian Princess ? If so, I will have to compare her picture with my mysterious pastry (see earlier post for reference to the miraculous lobster tale - english name for the pastry if you haven't figured it out).
-
REUNION ORGANIZERS (for next year): Can we have some dance music and shake our groove things ?
-
Howdy Terry: Happy to hear the good news about the Park Slope Reunion. You and your sister Lori Jean look terrific! I was catching up on some of the feedback online...it turned out to be a perfect day for those fabulous Brooklynites! This website has given me the opportunity to relive those "Happy Days" in Brooklyn. Sending my best regards to Carol Diez, Elizabeth Joy, Lori Jean Angelo, Patsy Miele, Joey Marsella, Peter Lovaglio, and special regards to you...Theresa Angelo! Enjoy the rest of this year in good health and lots of happiness...

I agree with Shalimar......we need a woman in the White House ! (There I said it.....my first semi-political statement on the thread).
-
Really loved the slide show. Great picture of Ginny and me. Her parents must be turning over.
Charlie Bambino -
Bob-
Yes, that was my official statement. Rose is The Italian Princess. I found her while reading something on the Windsor Terrace site of Brooklynian . As a matter of fact, she wrote in somewhere either on this page or the last (page43.) She sent me an email stating her sister knows the names of some people from the reunion slide show.
So you wrote:
and looked at the La Sfogliatella sitting on top of the other pastries I was amazed......it was like a miracle......it was in the shape of......guess what ? Blessed Virgin ? No. Mother Teresa ? No. It was shaped exactly like.........
And the answer is???
Have a great evening All- -
By the way, I learned many years ago not to ask for La Sfogliatella in Sicily. A man from this company I was working with (in Catania, Sicily) said "Bob, you saw that movie Braveheart, right ? There was Scotland and England. Here there is Sicily and Italy. I understood that he meant the pastry was NOT from Sicily. I didn't ask for it again. So, no offense my Sicilian brothers that I suggested the pastry looked like the Italian Princess.

HI ALL THE BAY RIDGE FESTIVAL WAS GREAT AS ALWAYS. GOOD FOOD, AND GREAT MUSIC. ALOT OF BANDS ON STAGES ON DIFFERENT BLOCKS
SINGING ALOT OF THEOLDIES. (MY FAVORITE KIND OF MUSIC)
TERRY, SO GLAD YOU WENT. SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAD FUN.
LOVE YA XXOO -
HI MARCY, SO YOU ARE IN NJ NOW? HOW IS ANGELO? MELANIE AND I'M SORRY I FORGOT YOUR YOUNGER DAUGHTER'S NAME. I STILL HAVE SO MANY OF THE PICTURES AND STUFF I BOUGHT FROM YOU WHEN YOU WERE SELLING FOR THAT WOOD COMPANY. IT STILL LOOKS GREAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. REMEMBER THE NIGHT I HAD THE WOOD PARTY FOR YOU IN MY BASEMENT ON 20TH STREET AND WE HAD THE BLACKOUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARTY.( 1976 OR 77?) WE FINISHED BY CANDLE LIGHT. THAT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN. AND THAT SUMMER WE WENT TO PENNSYLVANIA TOGETHER. THAT WAS GREAT TOO. WRITE BACK SOON
HOW IS MOM ZOE? TELL HER I SAID HI
-
BOB HORAN I THINK I SAW THE ITALIAN PRINCESS AT THE FESTIVAL SHE HAD ON A SHIRT THAT READ "KISS ME, I'M ITALIAN".
HAVING CAKE AND COFEE NOW, IT IS MY DAUGHTER NATALIE'S 3RD WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TODAY. PEEK BACK LATER
-
ROSE MARSELLA NEW EMAIL ADDRESS IS [email protected]
-
Patsy: First of all, I not only saw the lady with the "Kiss Me I'm Italian" tee shirt, I kissed her ! Not sure if anyone got a photo.
As far as blackouts, I was working in the chemistry labs for Con Edison when the big blackout took place. I had already left work and was on Flatbush Avenue (near Brooklyn College) and saw all of these people coming up from out of the street. It freaked me out - I didn't know they were coming out of emergency exits from the subway tunnel. I had left work hours before the blackout so don't blame me. -
Sounds like I missed a good time in Bay ridge today ! Patsy, I hope you were dancing in the streets ! I don't sit still for music......at concerts, I'm up on my feet all the time (usually some "head banging bands" like Lamb of God, Slayer, Rob Zombie). Hey, by the way, for any of you out there who are actually metal fans, White Zombie (Rob Zombie's original band) got started in Park Slope and they came from Union Street. Hey, I've come a long way from Dion and the Belmonts. They didn't have any "mosh pits" at the old Paramount theater where all those R&B groups played. Though, I must say that I saw James Brown in concert at a time before most white people knew who he was (the Please, Please, Please man......before Pappa got a brand new bag).
-
Patsy: Oh yeah, one other thing......I'm afraid to ask what a "wood party" is.....and not sure whether I have actually had a "comparable experience".
-
.....though I would guess that a blackout could provide "appropriate atmosphere" for a wood party.....
Howdy, Stranger!
