HI CHRISSY.I NOW REMEMBER YOU,AS SOON AS MENTION YOUR YOUR MOTHER & FATHER NAME THAT YOUR FATHER WORKED AT PARKER &MEGNA I WAS IN THAT DRUG STORE AT LEAST 3 TO4 TIMES A WEEK. WITH 3 KIDS GETTING PRECRIPTIONS FILLED ALL THE TIME. EVERY TIME I WALKED IN THERE , HE WOULD ASK WHO SICK NOW. HE WAS I KIND AND FRIENDLY MAN. ALWAYS IN HIS WHITE COAT. I MOVED AWAY 33 YEARS AGO. LOOKING AT YOUR PICTURE YOU DIDNT CHANGE MUCH. I REMEMBER YOU AS A CUTE PETITE LITTLE GIRL ALWAYS WITH A SMILE. I THING YOU AND MY SON ARNOLD MAY HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME GRADE??
EXCUSE MY TYPING IM NEW AT COMPUTERS JEANETTE -
Hi Jeanette,
So nice to hear from you. Yes, Arnold and I are the same age. He mentioned 45 the other day. I want to see his picture. I hope he comes back on again, because I think I have his face in mind, but I'm not sure. He had some memories that I can surely relate to.
Oh, I'm so glad you remember my Dad. I only have a few memories of him since I was 7 when he passed away, but they are all fun ones. He was an awesome bowler and he would take us young ones to the bowling alley on Sunday and get us a great breakfast. I also remember going to Majaong Chinese Restaurant and him ordering the "daily double" entre which included every kind of meat. Their eggrolls were superb........huge pieces of shrimp. My Dad was there so often, that my Mom said the owner came to his funeral.
Lord, I wish I were that petite little girl again, Jeanette. I guess that's why Connie Miele gave me the nickname "twiggy". That reason and because I had the same short haircut as Twiggy the model. Too funny.
Well Jeanette, please tell Arnold to post his picture and to stay in touch always. Thanks for the Memories, My Friend !
Love,
Christina "Twiggy" -
Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and prayer that every dream comes true
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
I know you'll always remain in my heart
Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, au revior, auf weidersehen.....Good Night![/size] -
Tommy: Jack was my neighbor and we celebrated all his promotions with him, from Ladder 5 to Ladder 114, etc. I adored the man. I just went to Danny Prince's retirement party when I was up in Brooklyn for the reunion and met a lot of guys who worked with Jack, including Danny. A few chiefs there worked under him also. I was in E237. Jack was a BC in the 35th for awhile and I ran in with him.
-
When his wife passed away, Jack was totally lost. He eventually sold the house on 20th and got an apartment in Bay Ridge. I still have the first (and last) Christmas card that he sent me while living in Bay Ridge. I miss him a lot.
-
Janet I remember how lost he was. I was real good friends with his son John and when John passed he was devestated. My wife lived on 20th 6th to 7th Her name is Angela Totino and her best friend was Shirley Marsh. Did you work in the 35 with Chief Burke?

Chrissy I do remember taking you on the cyclone and I owe you some Nathans franks

All I can say to your beautiful post to me is this, Twig....
You know I wish I were there too. Festina, thank you for all the sweet things you say about me. You are really too kind. The pleasure was all mine to be a part of reuniting the gang again and as I've said earlier, it was so helpful to me after Jeanne passed to be involved in such a wonderful event........one that Jeanne would have loved as well. It was very comforting to me to be surrounded by all of you who knew her. Honestly, it was thrilling to plan and I will do it over and over again.
It would bring me so much joy if you came to visit us in Sunny Florida. I think it's still 75 degrees right now and it's 7:00 p.m. It's beautiful weather, I must say. Honestly, Festina, my door is open anytime you need a little get-away and a visit with your new sister. I think James is itching to come down again. He loves it here. I was talking to him last night and he was asking about the weather. I guess we'll have to see what happens with Marie's daughter. I do not know how this woman is dealing with the fact that her child is going to leave us soon. Just heartbreaking, to say the least.
Okay, if ever I had the priviledge of having one of your works of art on the walls of my home, I would be overjoyed and would compensate you greatly. You don't have to be an art expert to know that what you do is truly outstanding ! What a gift from God!
I Love You, Festina
My friggin' cup runneth over! ...and thanks to you, I won't be needing a sleeping pill tonight because of the love that you put in my heart.
I hope someday to do the same for you...
God Bless The Oliva Family, today and always.... -
Tommy: No, I worked in the 28th but ran in with the 35th most of the time. Yes, I knew John since he was born. It was a rough situation wjen he passed away. Elena took it very hard and never recovered. She wanted to be with him.
-
Festina: WOW,you're up late, lol.
-
Every time I see that picture of myself, the first thought I have is that I still have the same blouse on, he he he.

Goodnight all, going to bed.

HI FRANNY,
I have heard about that ajustment on the Part of the wife, I think on the the part of the man it must be nice at first & then feel kind of boring. I know my husband won't be bored !!
I like what you wrote about it being hard (life change)
but you said for a good reason- AND MY CHOICE & you are practically giving the house away. You are taking control of your world even with getting less for the house and making "A LIFE" You seem like some one who counts your blessings.
Don't forget, pack a box & label it coat & pj's for N.Y.C. visit

Good Morning Park Slope
Hadn't planned to check in on the Site - but it felt like the logical next step after I poured my Starbucks. And an alternate to reading the paper and getting stressed about the world.
CAROL DL - HI YA'
Thanks for the reinforcing support re my move and husband's retirement.
Someone said to me once "you married for better or for worse, but not
for lunch." Frank and I both lived alone in our own homes for 9 years
before we got married, so we were both pretty independent. But YES, I always remember how blessed I am no matter what - and the first words out of my mouth each morning are - "THANK YOU GOD" and this morning,
THANK YOU CAROL, I appreciate your words more than you know.
Love,

HELLO CAROL CP - I remember you and we did talk briefly at the Reunion. I am "Franny Bruno" from 20th & 5th... And right before the reunion you talked to Terry Angelo about me and my ex-husband (Eddie Joe Eskew) - not our topic this morning. You won't know me
from St. John's, I'm one of those 'public school kids' as Terry Angelo would call us (Hi TeTe - I miss you!)
Hope I can make sense of this Sacco relationship... my sister can probably describe it better....
Anyway - the Sacco's were/are related on my mother's side of the family.
Albert Sr. and my mom were 1st cousins - through my grandfather. Grandpa's name was Dominick Schiavo (grandma was Francesca Ruggierio) - 219 20th St..
Albert also had two sisters who were cousins to, and best friends with my mother and Aunt Mary. Albert's sisters were Susie (Sacco) Senesie and Anna (Sacco) Abrahamsen - my godmother. Anna is the only one still living. Both Anna and Suzie lived on 20th St. below 6th Ave, while we were growing up.
Not sure if any of these names will ring a bell for your husband and his family. My Aunt Mary's last name was Battaglia (she also lived on 20th across from us), and my mom's name was Alexandria (they called her Santa; go figure).
Well maybe we're distant cousins
They had two good-looking sons: Albert and Peter... sorry they were related. (Hi Lucia - if you are still out there, you remember Peter?).
I'll talk to my sister later and see if she can add anything. And when I talk to my godmother Anna, I'll ask her. Let me know from your end...
Blessings,
Francesca -
Franny
I spoke to your sister Phyllis, last nite...when you speak to her ask her what we spoke about, it was about the Sacco's also... -
Hi Patsy...don't know why your rating keeps changing.... I guess I was still a "newbie" but I went into "Your Page" on the top of the blog go into "Edit my Profile" all the way on the bottom of the page you will see "Custom Title" I changed mine to "St. John's Alumni" and it took. I don't know if this will change but for now it stayed.
Have fun at your party....Judy -
Wow.....page 79......where have I been. I guess busy with work and trying to have fun. The rest of this year will go very fast. I have a couple of trips coming up, including a couple of cities in India. Somehow, I recently overdid the physical activities (mainly bending over for several hours in the same position slowly drilling through one inch thick slate plates to repair our light stanchions). Had a backache for a number of days but finding that exercise is the best medicine - along with stretching. Been out kayaking (and hopefully will be on the water even in the dead of winter) and yesterday in-line skated for 9 miles. I hit some debris at the beginning of the path which sent me into the strangest "dance" in the air and landed me still bouncing - but on my feet - onto the grass. Thought that would screw up my back more but the 9 miles was like a miraculous cure !

Ralph: Jack and ELena's daughters were Michele (married to Larry Nardo) and Joanne (my brain just froze at her husband's name/ his family owns the funeral parlor on 7th Ave). They both live in Windsor Terrace. I don't think either have children. I am going to try to call Michele today.
-
Bob: Everyone has been asking for you. Where have you been. They are having Bob withdrawal.
