OK Bob, stop all this physical stuff, it's killing me. I can even get on the exercise bike that's been sitting here in my living room for almost 2 years. For all my aches and pains, only water gets rid of them. The pools in Florida and even the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon got rid of them fast. I have a lifetime membership to Jack LaLanne (Bally's now) and can't get to use it since the closest one is in Charlotte. I really need to join a gym here in order to get into the pool.

Hi Suzie
-
Hey Everyone....
If you guys are bored ...this is a good site to see whats going on in our neighborhoods....
http://gothamist.com/labs/map -
Ohhhhh, Christiana we loved Jans, the Cheddar Cheese Burgers and Hot fudge sundaes !!! They were the best. I wonder why there was never an Ice Cream Parlor in the neighborhood. I think the closest one was Seeboads on 50th and 5th. They made the best homemade chocolate also for every holiday. The newer owners kept up the chocolate tradition and it was also fantastic, but they closed a few years ago, wahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
-
WOW Suzie, just looking at the neighborhood right now.
-
Hi Janet...dont forget to tell Joanne I said hello ...if you speak to her!
-
I will. I am still looking at the map of 20th Street, trying to get my bearings, lol.
-
HI BOB --------> WE ALL MISSED YOU!!
Feel better and maybe you'd like to try this ...I hear they give great back rubs..... :thumright:
K...I can feel my black eye now ---> :eye: -
Have to ask my cats to do that for me, lol.
-
/ I say GO for it ....plus its free...just throw them some tender vittles....lol -
I have to get my act together ...and start cooking ....Im attempting veal stew today....maybe I can get someone to eat it later if theyre desperate & hungry.....lol
plus I wanna get off before Bob gets back.....lol.
love you all....

HELLO CAROL CP - I remember you and we did talk briefly at the Reunion. I am "Franny Bruno" from 20th & 5th... And right before the reunion you talked to Terry Angelo about me and my ex-husband (Eddie Joe Eskew) - not our topic this morning. You won't know me
from St. John's, I'm one of those 'public school kids' as Terry Angelo would call us (Hi TeTe - I miss you!)
Hope I can make sense of this Sacco relationship... my sister can probably describe it better....
Anyway - the Sacco's were/are related on my mother's side of the family.
Albert Sr. and my mom were 1st cousins - through my grandfather. Grandpa's name was Dominick Schiavo (grandma was Francesca Ruggierio) - 219 20th St..
Albert also had two sisters who were cousins to, and best friends with my mother and Aunt Mary. Albert's sisters were Susie (Sacco) Senesie and Anna (Sacco) Abrahamsen - my godmother. Anna is the only one still living. Both Anna and Suzie lived on 20th St. below 6th Ave, while we were growing up.
Not sure if any of these names will ring a bell for your husband and his family. My Aunt Mary's last name was Battaglia (she also lived on 20th across from us), and my mom's name was Alexandria (they called her Santa; go figure).
Well maybe we're distant cousins
They had two good-looking sons: Albert and Peter... sorry they were related. (Hi Lucia - if you are still out there, you remember Peter?).
I'll talk to my sister later and see if she can add anything. And when I talk to my godmother Anna, I'll ask her. Let me know from your end...
Blessings,
Francesca -

Janet, there was a Loonies Ice cream Parlor on PPW at Bartel pritchard Square and another Loonies on 9th St & PPW. Also there was an Independent Parlor who'd name I can not remember on 5th Ave between 9th & 10th Street. The Loonies at Bartel Pritchard Square was attached to a bar. I guess this was all before your time   -
Janet ,
Please send my regards to Michele and Joann if you speak to them.
Funeral Parlor on 7th ave? wow my brain is frozen now.

If you want to restore your regular ranking title, go to the top of the page and click on Your Page. Then go to the bottom and hit submit without changing anything. This is supposed to reset it.
-
Ralph: Just left a message on Michele's phone and I am not sure, but could it be Duffy's??
-
Warren: Now I do remember one on PPW across from Holy Name, but not one that you could sit in.
-
Ralph: Dunne Funeral Parlor. That's Joanne's last name. Her in laws own it.

Loonie's......I am pretty sure I went there for ice cream (right near the Sanders).
I miss Prospect Park and a lot of what is available in the city. When we moved, we were all (me, wife, son) happy to get away. In many respects, I could really enjoy going back to Brooklyn though I must say I enjoy being on Long Island and surrounded by water ! Beaches , rivers, lakes etc. I skated yesterday at my favorite skate path which runs along salt marshes down to Jones Beach (though part of path closed due to construction).
The city is exciting though. The only times I seem to get in there now is either for the kayak trips around Manhattan and to go to heavy metal concerts with my son. Let's see your horns in the air, yeah !
I took a course in Mandarin Chinese at the China Institute and would love to go back there for more instruction. It is just such a journey. I went to class one day and told the other students (most of whom live in Manhattan) that after I left the company I was visiting for my job that day, dropped off the company car, got to the LIRR and finally subway to a few blocks from the institute, it took me three hours.
There is never enough time to do all of what you want to do. Right now, I am sitting in the office at work preparing a talk I have to give to the American Society for Quality in order to make some "space" for myself to get out for parts of one or two days this week to do some kayaking and/or skating. I am thinking that if I hire a cook, maid, gardener and masseuse that maybe I'll have some time to do those other things. A private Chinese tutor who gives massages might be great. No jokes about happy endings, please. Anyone who is really good at time management, send me some hints. Please don't refer me to a book.....no time to read it. -
MONGO ?? I wonder if this is the same guy that I knew from way back....if JAP sounds familiar (inside joke) we had a name for eachother!
If this is you....my Daughter Janelle still has the silver dollar you gave her when she was born..... :flower:
Love,

Little Vince ....hope your feeling much better

Old Goat here- That is the one Bob, right around the corner from the sanders. To Bob & Janet The one on 9th St & PPW was right accross from the 9th St entrance to the park. My father used to walk me up to that Loonies and buy fresh roasted peanuts. (I am talking 1939-40)We then went into the park and fed them to the squirrels. The last time I was in that area several years ago there was some kind of a restaurant in the same spot but the Loonies Stained glass sign was still in the upper part of the window.

JANET Hi , Weather is horrible here today. CHICKEN SOUP day. Not feeling to great either. Think I caught AL's sickness,he has it bad in the chest, they gave him that inhaler. I make a big soup & then freeze in small containers (best med )
I think JoAnn has a daughter. Mich no kids & I heard she is pretty sick (not sure what).
I can't remember JoAnn's husbands name either, an X boyfrd. of mine James was good friends with him. -
SUZIE
Love stew !! but can't eat it without a loaf of Italian bread in front of me (bad).
MONGO - I thought he was coming to the gathering that was 9/21 Maybe next year ? I heard him sing once, I believe it was in the park, it is as they wrote on this site ELVIS. BOB Horan walked around with his name tag on , it was funny. It looked like Mongo was coming for sure but not Bob & mean while the opposite happened. Good thing Bob did not try to sing.
That monkey picture was soooooooo funny, I wonder if he saw it yet. -
Carol: Hope you are feeling better.....get some rest. Good weather for it (today). Tomorrow will be nicer day. Send me your chicken soup recipe. I'm still interested in getting recipes from anyone willing to share. Until I decide I can afford to hire a cook (and maid, gardener. masseuse etc.) I will have to start thinking about cooking more often. Arlene is actually making some ad hoc chicken dish right now (ad hoc meaning she's making it up as she goes).

PATSY
Like your picture of the 2 cups !! nice wake up greeting.
I think Janet left a post on what to do to go back to your old title. -
Carol: So you think Mongo is a better singer than me ? You are probably right......but I am a better dancer. I still had the Mongo name tag when I went to Marilyn's retirement and wore it again. When I was in Inner Mongolia, I learned that they are big drinkers and referred to this white, strong alcoholic drink as "Mongo Shui" which means Mongolian Water.
I saw the wild monkey massage photo. Once in northern India I had a big monkey jump on my back. I thought he was just after my food but maybe he wanted to give me a massage.
I wish I was headed for China instead of India (for several reasons).....you can get great massages there real cheap. It's funny, these Chinese nail salons are popping up all over Long Island. I passed me nearby here which advertises a 10 minutes massge for $ 10. In China, $ 10 can get you a very looooong massge. -
Hello out there,,,
How do I obtain a Regular status? Also... how does one add a picture of ones self?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
