Next Brooklynian BBQ (+hiking/biking etc) trip - Final date

How about we leave at 9am. That gives us 2 hours to get there (for the slower drivers ;-) or to pick up everyone and what not.
I say yes, let's BBQ. There are grills at the place and we should probably bring one or two portable ones as well.
As for food - bring your own stuff for the grill, but let's share salads and snacks etc.
Booze - 6 packs all around & special drinks by whoever wants to punch them together? Thoughts? -

I forgot to say earlier - thanks! Let's see if that boy turns up... meanwhile I'm trying to cadge a lift from Stacey...Christina wrote: As for food - bring your own stuff for the grill, but let's share salads and snacks etc.
All sounds good to me. I don't have any particular signature dish/drink, but I'll bring something shareable along.

Hi Stacy! Could I reserve that spot in your car - if you go of course! New puppy sounds gorgeous too!
Whether we go or not I have a nice portable grill that you are welcome to use as well as a large cooler on wheels.
(I wonder if we've met.... I did meet a Stacey at the first happy hour I went to about 3 years ago at Flatbush Farm... was that you?)
Of course you can join us Nomad and yes that was me who met you. Just remember that I might not be able to go if the puppy does not get all her shots by then.
Just a suggestion, maybe a group can chip in and rent a van for the day. -

Thanks Stacey. I understand it depends on the doggie shots - no problemo.

I guess I'll wait and see whether you're going/who else needs transport etc nearer the time, then we consider hiring a van. -
or, we could just rent a van/car ....it takes the drama out of wondering whether briss boy will appear.

I'd be up for that. Not sure if BrooklynBound has a ride yet so perhaps she might like to join in. -
I'll know by Friday whether Mahina is able to come. If not, Mrs. C and I will need a ride, and I'd be willing to chip in for a van.
But I don't want to be the driver. -
details concerning a van previously occupied this post.
the van was cancelled due to lack of interest..... -
Let me see whether mahina is driving first; I should know by this weekend.
-
My husband might be coming.
He's thinking about it.
Oh.my.God.
If we go , he's driving. We got room for 3 in the back.
I won't know for sure till next week.
Until then I must be on my best behavior. O:) -
...hmmm, tempting but then Dude could not come.
I'll wait to see if these slackers come thru on wanting to be in a van. If they waffle, I'll ride with you or Booklaw and leave Dude at home.
(One can't mooch a ride AND bring their dog, it's just wrong) -
Ok. And if he decides not to go and lets me go then I'll go in on the van with ya'll.
Also , Why , no Dude in his car. Sorry. We're lucky he is actually gonna let us ride in his baby.
-
Is this still happening?
-
Whynot - I'm in on the van.... but it looks like we'll have to wait a couple of days to see if the others will want it.
BrooklynBound - Yep! BBQ is def on. Come in The Mystery Machine/A-Team with the Whynots & Dude & me! .... and whacha got with the Speidi avatar???! Arrgghh! -
I'd take Dude if it didn't mean mass carnage in the back seat.
-
Just a late suggestion but if we were to go to Croton Point Park instead of Bear Mountain people could take Metro North!

That sounds like a great park - I would be up for that one also.
Plus I just noticed this on the Bear Mountain website:
Pets:
Dogs only, must be muzzled and on a leash, not more than 6 feet. Not allowed in buildings, picnic areas, bathing areas, on walkways or in the Trailside Museum and Wildlife Center.
Did anyone bring their doggie last time? -
good thing you looked that up! Looks like dogs aren't allowed in picnic areas of any NYS park
Maybe the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation?
Or just a hike, no BBQ? Hudson Highlands State Park? -
I'm not hiking.
I remember no wardens or park officials in the outside park area we stayed at last time. Hell, there were even drunk frat kids with open containers. I wouldn't stress it. -

Actually at Croton Park they are allowed
DOGS
Must be leashed. Dog waste bags are provided. Please pick up after your pet.
Cool Mama thanks - plus I wouldn't want to be the person to tell Oscar he is a dog and he can't be in the park -
Muzzled? Fuck that. Half the people there should be muzzled. Fucking inbreds.

I guess you're talking about the male half. -

Duh. -
Since nobody's hiking but there may be at least 4 dogs in attendance I like the idea of Croton Point Park.
Any more takers??? -
I'm not taking BB is she continues with that shitty avatar.

LOL! Ok , so if no one is hiking and all we'll be doing is BBQ'n.....why don't we just stay in Brooklyn and move this thing to Prospect Park? Bring the doggies. No cars needed. We can all hold hands walking there together.
Any more takers???
If not , Croton Point Park sounds cool. They got hiking and crap there too :
