MHA wrote: Do want someone to pick the bench up from you?(edited by whynot)
yes. But if this person had a car, and more benches are desired, it makes sense to pick up all benches at once.
I await word from Stacey.
....the already built bench isn't going anywhere. Someone can pick it up after the decision is made whether it will be a lonely bench, or a bench with identical siblings. -
Mamacita wrote: Give him $30 and it's yours, there. Yes, you pick it up.
no, no, no.
The existing bench is free. See above post re: it being built from free lumber.
. -
I'll also add, and this is the only time you'll hear these words from me: Whynot is truly a great person with a big heart.
(but I still like Dude better)
It would cost me $30 or more just to transport the wood for this project home from Lowes or Home Despot, not even taking into account getting there and needing a woodshop, tools, skilz... Whynot is the best, there I said it!
(<------Maybe had too much coffee this AM......) -
In light of Mrs. Whynot's pending absence, Whynot had already planned a mission to Lowes this weekend, complete with friend with a car.
The radio is already tuned to 101.9
the beer is already in the fridge
....we are merely discussing:
The MAGNITUDE of engineering and LENGTH of rope required to secure the lumber to the roof of said car
The AMOUNT of sawing noise to be made by Whynot as a result of the work, as well as the correlated barking by Dude ...all while innocent neighbors are attempting to enjoy a peaceful, much-deserved weekend. [fear not, workshop contains noise pretty well]
The amount of glorious SCORN said vehicle and participants will likely receive as it is driven up Union between the PS food coop and Tea Lounge.
jeeze, people must be desperate for a hero. -
Well, if you have a car on Saturday WhyNot, why not bring the finished bench with you to the empty lot on Franklin? The lot will be open to those wanting to claim a lot of land for their own personal gardening.

Reading comprehension fail

1. What mama said.
2. Said car will disappear upon delivering wood for Saturday's pre-planned building adventure.
3. If Stacey wants additional benches, they will not be ready until said lumber is removed from said car and said noise is created as described above. Please see post at 11:20 AM re: awaiting word from Stacey ....as well as the pursuit of pareto optimal allocation of resources. My professors told me I should always do things with this concept in mind, and I so rarely get to pursue it in real life. You will not deny it to me this Saturday, damn it!

How do you embolden characters? If I knew how to do that, I wouldn't use all caps as much as I do. And can one italicize as well?

When you post a reply you will notice little boxes below the subject (B i u, etc.) . Highlight the word(s) you want to embolden and click the appropriate B(old) Italicized and u(nderline). You can also change the font size and color.
Have I now created a monster

Nope. Monsters are ugly. I am drop dead gorgeous.

You should know better by now.....the standard answer is "photos, or it's not true" (a variation on "photos, or it didn't happen"). We believe NOTHING. -

I see we have something in common then. -

Meh. I'm not buying it. Stacey IS gorgeous, but that's all I believe!

first I had to deal with poor reading comprehension, then people telling me how to best spend my Saturday, ....now I have to deal with flirting!
When will it end?
Can't Stacey just tell me if she wants more than one bench? -

You do know that the stacey you refer to is not me. Although with a name like that she must be wonderful -
I'm well aware that today's struggle involves being tortured by narcissistic person with the same name as the person I want to talk to.
Add that to my list of greivances on this thread. ...as well as this year's Festivus.
BTW, what was going through Stacey's mind when she decided to post on this thread on Tue Jun 15, 2010 4:40 am EST ?
....who is awake and thinking about how to improve a vacant lot on Franklin at 4:40 on a Tuesday morning!!!
....on my next job I'm going to make sure to get a better clientele.
These damn people:
can't read
don't sleep
tell me to deliver their free bench on a Saturday instead of doing what I wanna do.
are stuck on themselves
and don't write back -

damn silly vests..... -
Update:I have received word from Stacey, but have been advised that her non-profit (like many) is "fighting poverty with poverty". i.e. She doesn't have lumber money, but would like benches.
---Causing me to shed a knowing glance at my office's 1998-vintage fax machine, that the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD has now discarded in favor of a PDF scanner-copier-fax machine ---
must. stay. on. topic.
So, here's the idea. I think 4 small benches would look good the space.
One bench has been built, and is free.
....I'm willing to built 3 more benches tomorrow.
Do we have anyone who would like to sponsor a bench?
1. In exchange for sponsoring a bench, I will router your avatar name on the bottom of the bench if you desire. Remember, because they are made from recycled and manufactured "lumber", this means that your generousity will be evident for literally decades to come.
2. You could pay for said bench when you see me at the next get together, or when you bring said bench to said lot on Franklin Avenue.
--discuss-- -
What is the price to sponsor a bench?
-
the cost of lumber plus tax at Lowes.
i.e. The cost of TWO 9' long x 5" wide x .75" thick Trex boards.
http://www.trex.com/whytrex/default.aspx
...estimated to be $30. -
I will sponsor one for $30.
-
thanks.
Two benches to go people!
P.S. I could give exact pricing, but the IT people blocked shopping sites. bastards. -
Step up MHA, put yo money where yo mouth is
-
I have received information that a poster wishes to sponsor a bench.
However he/she/it, does not wish to be named on this forum. ....but their credit is in good standing, and hence their pledge is honored.
One bench to go people!
Note: pledges can be made until 3:00 PM Saturday. I'm headed to Lowes after 3.....
Howdy, Stranger!
