in any case, what I like about the joint is that it is QUIET. so calm. so yeah, it's good for a date. it's also good if you want to just have a conversation with a friend or two. which is awesome and something the nabe needed.
I'm so, so done with Soda. -

no shit. I'm too old for this shouting thing some people consider conversation. the soda patio will still be a go-to spot in warm months but otherwise, over it. -

shocker, right? it's honestly more age/drinking-culture than anything. nothing's changed from when I hung out there a lot, I just ... don't feel like it anymore, which is just a personal decision. and I have a lot of new obligations on a nightly basis that I didn't have even a year ago so soda is pretty much off my radar as a place for a quiet cocktail (weather up) or a nice glass of wine with friends (beast and/or sepia). and, frankly, if I'm going to be somewhere loud, I like the crusty old men at mooney's. and then there's cattyshack. -

hehe. I actually haven't been to soda in months. not since the early fall, definitely. if they started running a weekly poker game, or carried excellent sparkling rose by the glass, or played quiet jazz as a soundtrack, I might become a regular again. as it stands, most of the barkeeps have forgotten me.

I went to Weather Up last night and it was great- quiet and relaxing, with delicious drinks.

hey there. I was there last night, too. the owner of pegu club where there, and sasha was there, as well as kathryn (sp). the owner of pegu basically told me to come to her bar to check out some of her cocktails, but, amusingly, it turns out the comments my drinking buddy and I made on sunday night were taken to heart and reported to management. a french 75 is on the way and more ginger drinks are in the works. yay!
also. one of my drinks (I was having a run of Presbyterians) was totally wrong. I felt bad for the bartender - sasha was standing behind her for half the drinks and she was calmly working her way through the paces but still. ugh! in any case, after a few minutes of consideration, I mentioned the wrongness, and she instantly dumped my drink and made me a new one. which was, btw, perfect. I LOVE this place. -
by the way, please don't come to this bar and make it crowded. thanks.

thanks for the warning! I was thinking of stopping by after a poker game but will head home, instead. have fun!

Awesome, good thing Sasha's keeping an eye on the place -

Subject: Pegu Owner!
Funny that Audrey was there, i bet she was not too happy with the quality of the cocktail making there. Hey Eliza at least try to engage with your Bar customers, remember this is a neighborhood bar not another Pegu or M&H, Flat Iron Lounge, Death & Co on the weekends where you just make your pre mix and give a way cocktails to bridge and tunnel people. You might make more tips and have people return!! -

perfectly good alcohol going to waste like that.

well that is obviously a much bigger problem.
Glad to hear it got fixed.
Do you know how many *sober* people there are in PH?

Haahhaahh, would have paid to see Audrey´s face at the sight of a crappy drink that Eliza made ...Pegu club has amazing drinks but then again try going there on the weekends, totally crappy since they batch their drinks..I was just thinking of alafairnadia and of how Weathered should stay low key just for her and her quiet drink, i bet that is the way to make a profit and their investment back. By having teir tables occupied by people that just want to have a quiet drink while Miles davis Bitches Brew plays in the back ground! Please! -
ah yes. the freakshow patrol.
-
well i hope thats how they plan to make a profit because none of those places (M&H, Death and Co. etc.) allow standing and drinking at their establishments. If they dont have a table or a seat at the bar for you, you dont get in.
I am assuming sine they are taking so many cues from places like that, that it is going to end up being a quiet place that if it gets popular, no one will be able to get into. -
Subject: Yes!!
Yeah but remember that M&h is tiny, so is PDT and Death &co so they have to do that otherwise there would be no space for lets say 100 people....Anyhow all the hype for weathered up, remember there are other coctail lounges in the works, in Carrol Gardens, Park Slope, Williamsburg and there is a cocktail lounge in Ft Greene, so i hope you guys go to Weathered every day to keep it going...I know that the point is to have people from other hoods come to weathered but why would they come to weatherded when they have or will have a cocktail in their own hood??

I'm selfishly refraining from telling too many people out of the 'hood about it because I'm afraid.
But it really is perfect for after hosting dinner for people and we want to go out to have a nightcap before they head home.
Especially the people who are snobby about Brooklyn.
BAM!
and we have one too.
so there

and she can make a decent drink. yeesh. -
sneaky, are you by any chance associated with another bar?
i ask because, of your 5 posts to date, 3 bash WU and 1 announces a special at barette. -
Subject: Nope
I do not own a Bar maybe some day in the distant future...But i work at Bar but not here in BK!!
Curiously enough there aren't many decent female Mixologists in town, Audrey being one of the best in the country, Linnette from Freeman's is pretty amazing but i doubt that Eliza even comes close to both of them!!
The choucroute was very good, and the beers were very interesting, did anyone make it??? -

doesn't that make it a Methodist?
went to WU last night, and let me tell you, you will hate it. you should never, ever go. the barkeeps were so hard on the eyes, i was crying blood. one of them punched me in the teeth when i asked for an additional garnish. dog poop and chicken bones carpet the floor. a troupe of gucci-clad toddlers act as bouncers. a radio-dispatched crew of croc-wearing muggers met us on the way home, disparaged our neighborhood, and forced us to sign usurious mortgage agreements.
in conclusion, you should absolutely not come here and make it crowded.
Howdy, Stranger!
