It was the Bodhi (sp?) tree, a clothing boutique. Oh, and Sunday hours are 7-9.

Yesterday I noticed some work at the NW corner of 8th/8th. There was a Pet Boutique sign on the ground and it looked like they had stock inside. Seems like an odd spot for a shop--anyone know? It seems like this is a chain that's going in all over the neighborhood.

It was this small clothing boutique called Bodhi, before that it was briefly a preschool, but for many, many years, it was a bodega.

Hate the paint job and the name...we'll see about the rest when the Kohzee Cafe opens...so far I'm getting a Slope's Bistro vibe about this place.

I actually like the paint.. its sort of a copper metallic color. I wish this place well, its about 100 feet from my door so I'll be excited if the food is good. The owner (or the one I've spoken to at least) seems really nice.

I just noticed a new pet supply store at 8th and 8th. It's an odd place for a store as it just to be a podiatrist or something like that.

What's going on with that old laundromat on 7th Ave and 8th? I heard it was going to be a restaurant. Anyone have more info?

I am told by the people in Donuts that they opening a real resturant in that space. (8th St/7th Ave) Donuts will remain open, but the last plan I heard was that the new place will have Greek food, plus fresh seafood. One person said they would have some French specials and desserts daily.

Any word on the old La Bagel space on 7th Ave & 5th St? (Or did I miss it in this post?). I noticed yesterday boards are up & totally covering the front like some big remodel is going on, but no permits or signage posted last night.

Good question Rocker...they were gut renovating it last weekend.

I still miss Dee Dee's Donuts. It was fun to see them reinvent their menu on a weekly basis. Some of their ideas were insane. The kind of place you might find oatmeal with onion rings on the menu one day.

There is a permit up, 'king kong g/c" (general contractors). It said no change in type of establishment. Not sure what that means was the old la bagel a deli? Does no change mean it stays a deli/bodega or can they put a restaurant there?

That's my street, I would kill for a Bodega so my lazy ass wouldn't have to actually venture on to 7th Ave. Fingers crossed. Hopefully it's not just a deli (whats the point, La Bagel is still 2 blocks away). But a *good* restaurant would also rule.

Nobody's commented on how extremely awesome Peppermill is since they re-opened. A really large selection of fresh produce and a full-time deli counter. Much improved!

What used to be Linens 'n' Things and then became Dreamy's, aka the crappy furniture store on the corner of 5th and 11th that used the sidewalk as an extension of their "showroom" has closed. I hate to see boarded up storefronts but I'm glad to see that place gone.

Almondine is open, the owner said they are phasing in things, When I went in Friday night, all the pastries were sold out, most of the bread too. I consoled myself with chocolate croissants which were excellent. They were not too sweet and the chocolate was good quality. I sampled a madeline, which was not to my taste because I personally don't like baked items with lemon essense, but my son liked it. I also sampled something that looked like a raisen danish, it was flaky and yummy and nothing like the gummy lumps of dough with corn syrup on them that are usually sold commercially. They wil eventually have soups, salads and sandwiches in addition to the baked goods and cofee, teas and hot chocolate.

A great addition to that corner. I hope they do well.

Exactly where is this? I can't picture it's location. What space did it take over?

It is on 9th St near 7th Ave, between 7th Ave and 6th Ave, It is next to Flipsters. It occupies the space that was the original Minnow Rest. before it expanded into Bar Minnow.

Right next to the Yoga and Hair Salon place. They need to put a sign on the corner for traffic.

The Almondine is absolutely divine. Had a hot chocolate and meringue there yesterday. Very calm, blissed out feel to it.
