I hesitate to say this, but I watched Paris, Je T'aime over the weekend. Never recommend movies, but I have to this.

Ethan/Joel Coen, Wes Craven, Gerard Depardieu, Marianne Faithfull, and that funny guy from Brooklyn (Buscemi), etc.

Made me want to go buy a new TV.............

I'm going to be cheesy here but I just saw the old school movie Logan's Run and loved it! Yeah for post apocalyptic dramas!

I agree. I recall it got great reviews and the genre was right up my alley so I figured it would be a home run. It was a good story, good cast, but unfortunately I kept waiting to be blown away and it didn't happen.

I thought Michael Clayton was a waste of time. It wasn't terrible, it's just that that story has been told so many times with a few new wrinkles that the movie really needs to be outstanding to make it worthwhile.

I did watch Porco Rosso with my daughter and really enjoyed it.

Two films I watched recently from Denmark (same actress in both) and liked ...."Open Hearts" and "The Celebration"

Two Days in Paris. Adam Goldberg is funny as shit.

I've also recently watched three movies with NYC in rather rough shape -
I am Legend, with Will Smith was okay, but the wrecked CG NYC was the real star.
Cloverfield also sees NYC destroyed and is only "meh" as far as dumb monster fun.
Dark Days, a documentary on underground (literally) NYC homeless people, was fascinating.

Really? How many movies do you go through per month? I've gotta be at 15+ per month, and I've never noticed a slow-down...

Probably about 15 as well. They did it to me once before and I went to Blockbuster for a while. When I came back, it sped up for a month or two, and then slowed down again. Been waiting on Juno for weeks (long wait) and Lars (short wait).

Do you have a really short queue? I think that mine is always about 40 deep, so even if a few are on on wait, I never notice... that, or they just like me more

Last night I watched an instant movie on Netflix called "Street Fight" about the 2002 election between Sharpe James and Cory Booker for Mayor of Newark. I really enjoyed it. Sharpe James is a corrupt fucker!

Come on, people, there must have been some good DVDs in the past 5 months.

    My most recent favorite:

"Man on Wire" - a documentary about the guy who tightrope walked between the Twin Towers. Truly amazing.

Gonzo is a mesmerizing documentary about Hunter Thompson. A fascinating but ulitmately sad man. Burn After Reading is pretty funny if you're a fan of the Coen brothers.
