Rented any good DVDs lately?

It was on HBO, so I can't claim to have rented this one. It is really silly but hiralious. It's set in the future, where stupid people have out-reproduced smart people. Great for a laugh. Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph are the leads.

So many lol moments... There's a great one involving automated voice-recognition services. Classic--it's just like trying to use the TWC one.

I just joined Netflix - after rating about 200 movies, I have about 700 recommendations from them... I think that I already have 70 in queue :shock: Not necessarily a bad thing with winter on the way! Also, I didn't have time for it this weekend, but I'm eager to try the direct download viewing.

Netflix rocks! But direct download only seems to work on PCs, not Macs.

I've been making my way through Season 4 of 24.

Little Otik. Movielens rec'd that one and as weird as it was, I will never forget that strange flick.

I just watched the movie "Tiger and the Snow". The same guy who did "Life is Beautiful". Totally check it out... not as heavy as Life. There were some really sweet moments when he is professing (spelling?) his love to his wife in the movie (real-life wife).

I'm Reed Fish -

A small town radio host is content with life (essentially filling his deceased father's shoes) and love (engaged to the town hottie) until a girl from his past returns.

(Somewhat romantic) Comedy. Understated, well done and with a little twist to keep things interesting.

La Vie en Rose (La Mome) - Edith Piaf's life-story. Relatively unknown actress Marion Cotillard plays Piaf - amazing acting - heart-breaking story. Well worth watching. It's a long film but I hardly noticed, I was so engrossed...

Agreed - very good movie and I didn't see it until fairly recently, either - Mrs. W don't do violent movies.

It's not on DVD yet, but I just saw Lars and the Real Girl tonight - definitely worth renting. Between this and Half Nelson, I'm pretty impressed with Ryan Gosling.

As for hooligans, that's such an AfterSchool Special sort of word that I didn't expect Fight Club.

Julian Schnabel is a genius when it comes to adaptations, and intense freaky beautiful difficult stuff, with bonus points for the Johnny Depp cameos

i saw star dust, not just once but like 4 times past 3 weeks . i love hte movie. passes the lonely friday nights lol.

Just saw atonement didn't like the ending at all .

Just watched that last night! Love the casting and how they nail white working class Boston...reminded me of that great book by Michael Patrick MacDonald "All Souls: A Family Story from Southie" with the sympathetic knowing of the f*ked up lives of these people...
but "Gone, Baby, Gone" -- as refreshing as the authenticity is -- I soooooo didn't buy the twisted narrative reveals, none of which we can talk about here without blowing the movie for everybody else that has not seen it...
blarh. The Morgan Freeman character bugged me. It's like they got everyone else right but him.

It's true that it's visible without highlighting, but it doesn't exactly jump out at you. You're not going to read it by accident.

I saw "Into the Wild" this weekend. Very well done.

On the opposte side of the spectrum, I'm watching "Meatballs" right now. I love Bill Murray - and a month ago we were checking into the same hotel at the same time. I did a double take....had no entourage, carrying his own bags, very low-key.

Watched King of California last night - the wife and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
